Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end, is entering the final season of his current contract in 2025 and has addressed the possibility of retiring after that year. Speaking on the Bussin’ With The Boys podcast, Kelce shared that while 2025 could be his last NFL season, he remains focused entirely on the upcoming year and is undecided about his future plans.
“I mean, it’s the last one on the contract,” Kelce said when asked if next year would be his last in the NFL (1:37:29). “I’m focused on this one. I don’t know what next year is going to feel like. I don’t know what I’m going to feel like in March or April next year when I make that decision.”

Although rumors suggested Kelce might retire after the current season, he confirmed that he will continue to play for the Chiefs at least through 2025.
Contract Extension and On-Field Partnership with Mahomes
In May 2024, Kelce signed a two-year extension worth $34.25 million with Kansas City, which covers the 2024 and 2025 seasons. During this period, Kelce has maintained a strong connection with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a duo that has propelled the Chiefs into five Super Bowls over the past six years.
Kelce has achieved significant milestones since being drafted in the third round in 2013, including three Super Bowl victories and 10 Pro Bowl selections, along with multiple franchise records.
Motivated to End Career on a High Note
Kelce indicated a desire to conclude his NFL tenure with a championship. The Chiefs were in pursuit of a rare three-peat this year but fell short after a 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February’s Super Bowl. This recent defeat serves as a motivating factor for Kelce and the Chiefs as they prepare for the 2025 season.
The upcoming year will reveal whether Kelce chooses to continue playing beyond 2025 or decide to retire, but his focus remains on helping Kansas City respond strongly to last season’s disappointment.
