He was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the second round of the 2015 NFL draft. He played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers. Following the retirement of Aaron Donald in March 2024, Havenstein and long snapper Jake McQuaide are the last remaining Rams players from the franchise's time in St. Louis that are still with the team.
