Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever fell to 2-2 in the early 2025 WNBA season after a narrow 90-88 defeat to Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty on Saturday. The game highlighted Clark’s ongoing struggle with turnovers, as she set a WNBA record for multiple games with 10 or more turnovers.
Clark’s Difficult Performance Marks New WNBA Milestone
Clark finished the game scoring 18 points, hitting 6-of-18 field goals and 2-of-11 from three-point range, while contributing five rebounds and ten assists. Despite achieving another double-double, her 10 turnovers were historic in an unfortunate way. She became the first player in WNBA history to have multiple games with 10 or more turnovers, according to I Talk Hoops on X.

Clark’s previous 10-turnover performance occurred during her WNBA debut last May 14 against Stephanie White’s Connecticut Sun. In that game, she logged 10 turnovers over 32 minutes, alongside 20 points and three assists in a 92-71 loss. Over her rookie season, Clark set the record for most turnovers in a single season, with 223 in 40 games.
Context Around Turnover Records and Recent Performances
Before Clark, the last player to match 10 or more turnovers in a single game was Arike Ogunbowale of the Dallas Wings. Ogunbowale recorded 10 turnovers on June 2 in a loss to the Minnesota Lynx last year. This puts Clark’s turnovers in a wider league perspective, showing both individual challenges and team impacts.
Positive Milestones Despite Turnover Struggles
Although the turnover record casts a shadow, Clark also made some positive strides during the game against the Liberty by advancing on the WNBA’s all-time points and assists double-doubles list. The Fever remain focused on improving their performance as they prepare to face Sonia Citron and the Washington Mystics in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.
