Lexie Hull Promoted to Indiana Fever Starting Lineup in Bold Move Ahead of Tough Liberty Clash
Lexie Hull joins the Indiana Fever's starting lineup, replacing DeWanna Bonner as they face the New York Liberty.

Lexie Hull has been moved into the Indiana Fever starting lineup as the team prepares to face the defending champion New York Liberty on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This change comes after Hull and the Fever leveled their 2025 season series against the Atlanta Dream, improving to 2-1 early in the WNBA season.

New Starting Lineup Adjusted to Address Team Needs

Throughout the preseason and first three games, Indiana had maintained a consistent starting five featuring Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, DeWanna Bonner, Aliyah Boston, and Natasha Howard. However, with Bonner struggling—averaging just 2.7 points on 16.7% shooting along with 4.7 rebounds despite her recent back-to-back WNBA All-Star selections—the Fever coaching staff decided to shake things up.

Coach Stephanie White opted to replace Bonner with Hull, a fourth-year guard who has been a strong contributor off the bench. Hull’s production this season includes 8.3 points per game, shooting 42.9% from three-point range, along with 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 26 minutes per contest. The switch was announced on social media approximately 30 minutes before the tipoff against the Liberty.

Hull’s Promotion Reflects Growing Role and Upcoming Challenges

Prior to this promotion, Hull had consistently come off the bench, including through the preseason. In the preseason finale, DeWanna Bonner was already replaced by rookie Sophie Cunningham before Cunningham suffered an ankle injury. With Bonner’s difficulties in finding her rhythm, Hull’s reliable three-point shooting and overall contributions offered a much-needed spark to Indiana’s lineup.

Following their matchup with New York, the Fever will face the Washington Mystics midweek. A strong performance from Hull against the top-ranked Liberty could solidify her place in the starting lineup moving forward, especially as the team looks to build momentum and establish consistency early in the season.
