As the Jacksonville Jaguars prepare for the 2025 NFL season, Brenton Strange is expected to emerge as a crucial player at the tight end position. Entering his third year in the league, Strange is positioned to be the Jaguars key tight end 2025 season, stepping into a primary role following the departure of veteran Evan Engram. This change aligns with new Head Coach Liam Coen’s offensive strategy, marking a significant turning point for Strange.
Confidence and Readiness Define Strange’s Approach
Brenton Strange expressed a strong belief in his ability to contribute at a high level, reflecting a determined mindset as he prepares for a bigger role. “I’m definitely ready for it,” Strange said.
“I have a lot of confidence in myself and I’ve always had a lot of confidence in myself. I feel like I’m always one of the best players on the field. I feel like that’s the mentality I bring.”
This confidence will be essential as he embraces the increased responsibility that comes with being the team’s leading tight end.
Positive Offseason Atmosphere Under Coach Coen and Staff
The Jaguars’ offseason tone, shaped by new coaching leadership, has been discussed in depth by Strange during a podcast appearance with senior writer John Oehser. Strange highlighted the uplifting environment created by the new staff, crediting it with fueling the team’s motivation. “It’s a really good feeling,” he said.
“The coaches bring a really good feeling into the building every day and that trickles down to us as players. We see the coaches want to work hard. They have a belief in us and that makes us work harder.”
He added,
“You have someone there that wants the best out of you. You want to give them your best.”
Progressing Through Learning and Competition with Former Teammates
Strange was selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft and has steadily increased his presence on the field. In his rookie year, he appeared in limited action, but last season he started more games and significantly improved his production with 40 receptions for 411 yards and two touchdowns. Part of his development involved learning alongside Evan Engram, known for his route running and pass-catching skills. Strange reflected on the competitive balance in the tight end room, stating,

“I try to put myself in a position where, ‘If the coaches want me to do this, then this is their best way of thinking we can win.’ We had another great tight end in the room, Evan Engram. What he does best is catch the ball and run routes. It was frustrating at times, but you just have to tell yourself, ‘It’s all part of the process.’”
Viewing Challenges as Growth Opportunities
Strange emphasized the importance of patience and growth throughout his journey. He approached his rookie seasons as a chance to learn and absorb skills from experienced players like Engram. He said,
“Everything’s a process. Everything that you do, you have to grow through. You have to learn. I looked at it as an opportunity to learn from him, and take pieces of his game and see what I could do to implement it in my game.”
His mindset remained positive despite earlier frustrations, explaining,
“I don’t look it as frustrating. I feel like everything I’ve done in my life has prepared me for this moment right here. I’m excited for it. I’m ready to go. It’s a blessing.”
Anticipation Builds Around Strange’s Role in the Jaguars’ Offense
With the Jaguars under new leadership and a refreshed coaching staff, Brenton Strange’s role is expected to expand significantly. His blend of confidence, experience, and readiness makes him a pivotal figure in Jacksonville’s offensive plans. As Strange takes the reins at tight end, fans and analysts alike are eager to see how he capitalizes on this opportunity in the 2025 season.
