Dallas Goedert Opens Up on Emotional Eagles Contract Extension Ahead of 2025 Super Bowl Chase
Dallas Goedert reflects on his emotional contract extension with the Eagles, feeling lucky to continue in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert played a key role in the team’s recent Super Bowl Championship season and faced uncertainty about his future this offseason before agreeing to a new contract extension. On May 7, Goedert and the Eagles finalized a deal that lowered his salary from over $14 million to $10 million for the upcoming season, reflecting a mutual commitment to continuing their partnership.

Goedert shared his feelings about the contract negotiations in comments highlighted by NFL analyst Zach Berman on May 28. The tight end described the offseason as an emotionally challenging period marked by uncertainty and mixed sentiments.

“There was a lot of emotions going on through the offseason — not sure if you’re going to be here, not sure if you’re not. There was sad emotions of leaving. There was the excited of a change, seeing something different. There was going back and forth. …It’s been seven offseasons, this is the first I’ve had to deal with it. I’m pretty lucky. It was an interesting feeling for sure.” Goedert said.

During the 2024 season, Goedert contributed 42 receptions, 496 receiving yards, and two touchdowns, proving his value as both a receiver and an essential part of the Eagles’ offensive scheme, including his role in the memorable “Tush Push” play.

Assessing the Eagles’ Chances for Consecutive Super Bowl Victories

The Philadelphia Eagles remain one of the strongest teams in the NFL as they approach the 2025 season, even after losing key players like Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, and Darius Slay during free agency. However, the team reinforced its roster by acquiring talents such as Azeez Ojulari and Jihaad Campbell through the draft and offseason moves.

The core offensive unit remains largely intact with stars like Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Goedert expected to lead the charge again in 2025. Their collective experience and skills make the Eagles formidable contenders heading into the new season.

According to Bet365, the Eagles currently hold the best odds at +650 to win the next Super Bowl, positioning them as favorites to secure back-to-back championships. Following them closely are the Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, and Kansas City Chiefs at +700, and the Detroit Lions at +850.

With the emotional contract extension now settled, Dallas Goedert and the Eagles are focused on building upon last year’s success as they prepare for another championship run, underscoring the team’s determination to remain at the NFL’s highest level.
