Veteran tight end Marcedes Lewis has announced that the 2025 NFL season will mark the conclusion of his professional playing career, closing out an impressive 20-year tenure in the league. As he prepares for this final chapter, Lewis reflects on his enduring presence and performance in the NFL.
Lewis Reflects on His Longevity and Approach to the Game
During an interview on the Up & Adams show, Lewis openly discussed his mindset heading into what he considers his final season. Lewis highlighted his durability and continued contributions on the field, stating,
“Mentally, I’m going into it saying this is my last year,”
and added,
“Obviously, blessed to have 19 amazing years and the journey’s been great.”
He noted his active participation in games recently, including playing nearly 30 percent of the snaps during his last two seasons with the Chicago Bears. He defended his physical condition and consistency by revealing,
“I think I’ve missed something like 18 games in 19 years. Durable, I’m still doing my thing. I still practice hard. I’m still a student. I’m learning. I’m not in meetings acting as if I know it all. I think that’s what keeps me locked in and my seatbelt on. I’m just grateful to have that type of growth mindset about my work. That’s the reason why I’m here.”
