The Los Angeles Angels have officially activated Mike Trout after his absence due to a left knee bone bruise, ending his month-long injury layoff. This development comes as the Angels enter a six-game road trip following a five-game losing streak, hoping Trout’s return will provide much-needed momentum for the team.
Trout had been sidelined since April 30 after sustaining the injury during a game against the Seattle Mariners. During his time off, the Angels struggled offensively, failing to score more than two runs in any of their last five games and being swept in a three-game series by the New York Yankees. As the team prepares to face the Cleveland Guardians in the first part of this road trip, the return of their star outfielder could prove critical.
Roster Moves Signal Trout’s Return
On Thursday, the Angels sent Matthew Lugo to Triple-A, a move that sparked speculation about making space for Trout’s activation. Jeff Fletcher from SoCal News Group confirmed that Trout would be back in the lineup starting Friday’s game in Cleveland. Fletcher posted,
“Yes, this does mean the Angels are activating Mike Trout tomorrow in Cleveland, per source,”
adding,
“He’s been out since May 1.”
Trout’s Impact on an Offense in Need
Before his injury, Trout was experiencing a challenging offensive stretch, hitting a career-low .179 with nine home runs and 18 RBIs in 106 at-bats. Despite those struggles, his presence was seen as vital to stabilizing the Angels’ lineup, which has faltered recently. With the team 5.5 games behind the AL West leader, Trout’s return could be central to improving their chances of climbing back into contention as they continue their tough schedule.
