Dalton Kincaid, the Buffalo Bills’ former first-round tight end, entered the NFL with high expectations to help the team break through the AFC playoff barrier. After a promising rookie season, Kincaid’s sophomore year was significantly hindered by a persistent knee injury that limited his performance as a receiver throughout the 2024 campaign.
The knee trouble disrupted Kincaid’s ability to showcase the receiving skills that made him stand out during his debut year, ultimately impacting his production and on-field presence for Buffalo.
New Training Leadership Brings Fresh Hope for Kincaid
In response to these challenges, the Bills have implemented changes focused on enhancing Kincaid’s physical readiness beyond simply gaining strength in traffic. Will Greenberg, a well-regarded trainer within the Bills’ locker room, has stepped into the role of head strength and conditioning coach. This leadership transition is already proving critical as Greenberg works directly with Kincaid on recovery and improvement strategies.
Early reports suggest these efforts are paying off, instilling new confidence in Kincaid’s potential to return to elite performance levels. The close collaboration with Greenberg throughout the offseason has given Kincaid valuable time to understand and adapt to his injury.
“I’ve never really dealt with that type of injury, knees and stuff,”
Kincaid explained.
Spent a lot of time with Will… So got to spend most of the offseason (in Buffalo) just kind of figuring all that out. And then as you got out on the field, you got to learn how to navigate that as well.
Kincaid added that his recovery approach is focused on day-to-day progress while appreciating the significant long-term advancements.
“So I feel pretty good where I’m at right now. Obviously, I like to look at it like day to day as opposed to long term. So long term, it’s huge strides, as opposed to day to day. In the grand scheme of things, I feel like I’ve come a long way health wise, which is huge.”
The Impact of Kincaid’s Recovery on Buffalo’s 2025 Prospects
If Kincaid can maintain his health throughout the next season, he has the potential to emerge as one of the league’s premier receiving threats. His ability to stay on the field will be a determining factor in the Bills’ offensive success.
Greenberg’s influence as the new head strength coach is viewed as a key variable in ensuring Kincaid’s durability. Should the training regime work as intended, Buffalo’s performance in 2025 could exceed current expectations and push the team closer to playoff breakthroughs that have eluded them.
