Francisco Lindor matches Derek Jeter's 260 home run milestone, solidifying his status as an elite shortstop.

Francisco Lindor, the New York Mets shortstop and All-Star slugger, reached a significant career milestone by tying Derek Jeter’s 260 career home runs, highlighting his place among the top shortstops in Major League Baseball history. Lindor achieved this feat during the Mets’ 4-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the opening game of their series on Friday.

In the game, Lindor hit two home runs, marking his second multi-home run game this season. His second home run pushed his career total to 260, equaling the legendary New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter’s home run count. MLB analyst Anthony DiComo noted that Lindor now ranks fourth all-time in home runs among players who have spent at least 60% of their careers at shortstop.

“Francisco Lindor matched Derek Jeter on the all-time home run list tonight, with 260. That’s tied for fourth-most among players who spent at least 60 percent of their careers at shortstop,” DiComo shared on X.

Derek Jeter, widely considered the greatest shortstop in MLB history, ended his illustrious career with 260 home runs and 1,311 RBIs over nearly two decades. Jeter spent his entire playing career with the Yankees and won five World Series championships with the team. While Lindor is expected to surpass Jeter’s home run total soon, his broader legacy as a franchise icon remains unique and unmatched.

Lindor Added to Another Prestigious Shortstop Milestone List

Earlier this month, Lindor achieved another exclusive milestone by becoming only the fourth player in MLB history to hit at least 10 home runs in each of his first 11 major league seasons. This achievement places him alongside iconic shortstops Derek Jeter, Cal Ripken Jr., and Miguel Tejada.

Currently batting .278 with 12 home runs this season, Lindor stands as one of the Mets’ primary offensive contributors, alongside teammate Pete Alonso. Beyond his statistics, Lindor has also played a crucial role as a clubhouse leader during his time with New York, providing leadership and stability to the team.

Francisco Lindor’s arrival on these elite lists reaffirms his status as one of the best shortstops of his generation, promising continued impact on the Mets and the broader MLB landscape in the years ahead.
