Paul George Praises Caitlin Clark’s Fearless Trash Talk: “She’s the Rightful Face of the WNBA”
Paul George admires Caitlin Clark's bold trash talk, calling her a vital force in elevating women's basketball.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has quickly emerged as one of basketball’s most notable figures, known both for her impressive deep three-pointers and her unapologetic approach to communication on the court. Through the first four games of the current WNBA season, Clark has been averaging 19.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 9.3 assists, demonstrating her all-around impact.

Her confidence was on full display during a recent game against the Atlanta Dream, when Clark confronted guard Rhyne Howard with the statement, “I’m not scared of you,” following a heated exchange between the two players.

Paul George on Clark’s Impact and Intimidating Style

NBA player Paul George shared his views on Clark during his podcast, Podcast P with Paul George, highlighting her combination of skill and assertiveness. He openly expressed admiration for Clark’s presence both on and off the court.

“Not only is her game talking (expletive), but she’s out there talking (expletive),”

George commented.

“Like, she’s backing it up… I love her too, man. I think she’s great for the game of basketball in general, bro.”

George also addressed the perception Clark faces as an instant star in the league, explaining the mixed reactions from other players who have been working hard to grow the WNBA over the years. He acknowledged that some players may feel Clark has been prematurely designated as the face of the league.

“You gotta put it in perspective, right?”

George said.

“These girls have been grinding to grow the game of basketball in the WNBA. They’ve been grinding to grow the sport to the world of viewerships. They’ve been grinding for all of this.”

“And then you have this girl that comes along from college and is an instant change. She’s handed pretty much being the face of the league. There’s going to be girls that are offended by that. And there’s going to be girls that think she’s got to earn it. And she doesn’t deserve this early.”

Recognizing Clark as a Leading Figure in Women’s Basketball

Despite some tension around the early spotlight on Clark, Paul George believes she has managed the pressure well and deserves her place as a prominent figure in women’s basketball today. He listed Clark alongside established and rising WNBA stars who have shaped the league’s identity.

“She’s handled it great. I think she’s performed last year,”

George noted.

“She’s performing again this year. I think she’s the rightful face of the WNBA. Up there with A’ja Wilson, with Napheesa, with still some of the legends, Breanna Stewart, Kelsey Plum, the new up-and-coming rising star, bunky Paige Beckers.”

Clark’s rapid rise has been hard to ignore. In her rookie WNBA season, she earned several honors, including All-Star selection, All-WNBA First Team, Rookie of the Year, and led the league in assists—all of which cemented her status as a standout player very early in her career.

Future Outlook for Caitlin Clark and the WNBA

As Caitlin Clark continues to deliver strong performances and carry herself with confidence, she represents a new chapter for the WNBA’s visibility and competitive spirit. Paul George’s recognition of her as the league’s rightful face signals her growing influence and the evolving dynamics within the sport.

With rising talents alongside her and a league still expanding its reach, Clark’s fearless trash talk, commanding play, and media attention position her as a central figure who could shape how women’s basketball is viewed and celebrated in the coming years.
