Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors superstar, is beginning to consider his future beyond basketball as he approaches 38 years old during the 2025-26 NBA season. While he likely has several playing years left, Curry has made it clear that his post-basketball career will not include podcasting, despite the popularity of the medium among athletes.
Rather than pursuing a daily podcast, Curry prefers to focus on other interests and ventures outside of the microphone. Amid his busy professional life, he has developed an extensive investment portfolio, positioning himself well for success once he retires from basketball.
Why Podcasting Won’t Be Part of Stephen Curry’s Future Ventures
In a conversation with Jon Youshaei, Curry explained his stance on podcasting, appreciating the platform’s value but confirming it is not a path he wishes to take.
“I love the idea of people giving fans a new perspective, some good storytelling,”
Curry said.
“It does get a little loud at times. Some people are really good, though…… You won’t see me doing it, though. Don’t worry about that. I have a lot of other things I want to do other than be behind the mic every day…[Because] if you’re going to do something, you’ve got to be all in,”
he added.
“It is a time commitment; it’s a big lift. It’s not something I’m passionate about,”
Curry concluded.
Golf as a Major Focus After Basketball
Aside from his investments, golf is a key pursuit Curry plans to develop more seriously after his basketball career ends. In an interview with Max Adler for Golf Digest in 2024, Curry openly shared his intentions to dedicate significant time to improving his golf game once retired.
“I don’t know what the path is,”
Curry confessed.
“All I know is, when I’m done with basketball, I’m going to reasonably invest as much into my golf as I can to see how good I can get, and where that puts me 14 years from now, we’ll see.”
Over recent years, Curry has participated in several golf tournaments, displaying legitimate skill and passion for the sport. While it remains uncertain whether he will pursue golf as a professional venture, it is clear that Curry envisions spending a considerable amount of time on courses around the Bay Area and potentially beyond.

Continuing the Quest for Warriors Championships
Although discussions about Stephen Curry’s post-basketball plans are ongoing, the focus remains firmly on his current playing career. The veteran star continues his pursuit of a fifth NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors, alongside longtime teammate Draymond Green. Recent seasons have fallen short of this goal, prompting Warriors executive Mike Dunleavy Jr. to address team weaknesses during the offseason.
Curry is under contract for at least two more years, with a $215 million deal plus a one-year extension valued at $62.6 million. Golden State aims to maximize this period as they chase one more title for their franchise icon.
In 70 games this season, Curry has produced solid statistics, averaging 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and six assists per game, while shooting 44.8% overall and 39.7% from three-point range. His consistent performance places pressure on both management and teammates to match his dedication and elevate the team.
Should the Warriors manage to unify around Curry’s leadership, they remain legitimate contenders to secure another championship in the near future, keeping the team’s immediate focus on success rather than retirement plans.
