Madison Keys is on an impressive 11-match Grand Slam winning streak, thriving under husband's coaching guidance.

Madison Keys has extended her impressive winning streak at Grand Slam events by reaching the quarter-finals of the French Open. The American secured a straight-sets victory over fellow U.S. player Hailey Baptiste, marking her third time advancing this far in the tournament. Keys is currently riding an 11-match winning streak at Grand Slams following her Australian Open title earlier this year, highlighting her strong form on the court.

Keys discusses the unique dynamic of being coached by her husband Bjorn Fratangelo

Since June 2023, Keys has been coached by her husband Bjorn Fratangelo, a former professional player. Their partnership has brought notable success, with Fratangelo guiding Keys to her first Grand Slam title. Despite triumphing on hard courts at the Australian Open, Fratangelo considers clay the surface best suited to Keys’ talents, as she now pursues a potential French Open championship just three wins away. When asked about the possibility of firing Fratangelo as her coach during an interview on TNT Sports, Keys revealed her unwavering loyalty.

She openly acknowledged that Fratangelo’s blunt and unfiltered remarks can sometimes be frustrating during matches but emphasized that firing him was not an option.

“He is definitely unfireable! I think he toes the line sometimes. But there are definitely times where he will say something and I just glare at him and he just laughs because he knows,”

Keys said. She added that Bjorn “does not really hold back” and expresses exactly what he thinks and feels, a quality that sometimes provides the exact motivation she needs.

And you kind of know what he is thinking at all moments, he doesn’t really have much of a filter. In a lot of ways that is great, sometimes when you are down in the third it’s not really what you want to hear. But sometimes it’s what you need to hear.

Performance highlights since Fratangelo began coaching Keys

The collaboration between Keys and Fratangelo quickly yielded results, winning their first tournament together at the Eastbourne International soon after he started coaching in mid-2023. Since then, Keys has captured four titles, including her breakthrough Grand Slam at the Australian Open. She has showcased versatility by winning events on every major surface. Consistency has especially improved at Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the quarter-finals or better in more than half of the majors contested since their partnership began.

In 2025, Keys’ performance has further elevated, already surpassing her win total from the previous year. Ranked world number eight, she now prepares to face compatriot Coco Gauff in the French Open quarter-finals. This will be their sixth head-to-head encounter, with Keys currently trailing three wins to two against Gauff. Their ongoing rivalry adds significant intrigue to this stage of the competition.

The significance of Keys’ current form and upcoming challenges

Madison Keys’ 11-match Grand Slam winning streak and stable coaching relationship with Bjorn Fratangelo mark a pivotal phase in her career. Their partnership has demonstrated both strong results and personal trust, underpinning Keys’ resurgence on all playing surfaces. As she contends for the French Open title and faces familiar rivals like Coco Gauff, the outcomes will likely influence the trajectory of her future seasons. Maintaining this momentum and navigating high-pressure matches will be critical as Keys aims to add further major titles and sustain her elite status in women’s tennis.
