Micah Parsons has been a steadfast presence alongside Trevon Diggs throughout their NFL careers, as both athletes have been key members of the Dallas Cowboys since 2020 and 2021, respectively. Their camaraderie extends beyond the field, highlighted by Parsons’ recent reflections on supporting Diggs during his difficult rehabilitation from a season-ending knee injury sustained last year.
Following surgery to address his injury, Diggs—known for his reserved nature—expressed his gratitude to Parsons with a heartfelt birthday note. Parsons described the challenge Diggs faced during his recovery and the deep value of their bond during that time.
“I think it’s extremely difficult for Diggs,” Parsons said on Wednesday. “I told him, ‘I’m here to strictly support you and be there for you throughout your time.”
“And so, just throughout that process, just seeing where he’s at and just saying his mental, I think at the end, he kind of wrote me a message for my birthday, and he didn’t tell me in person, but he wrote me how much he appreciated that I came out there and uplifted him, man.”
Parsons also spoke about what the gesture meant to him personally, given Diggs’ usual stoicism.
“So, you know, and he don’t really show a lot of emotion,” Parsons said.
“It’s hard to get more than a couple words out of him, so just to get that message from it meant a lot for me, just as a friend. So, you know, I’m happy that he’s in a bright spot. He’s doing better, and I’m just hoping he has the year that he wants to it’s just not me telling him, You gotta kick it to overdrive. Now I said no more excuses.”
Updates on Trevon Diggs’ Progress at Cowboys Minicamp
Although still recovering, Trevon Diggs participated in the Dallas Cowboys’ recent minicamp. Cowboys offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer provided an update on Diggs’ health, indicating optimism about his return despite the absence of a definitive timeline.
Schottenheimer noted that Diggs has been training in Miami and returned briefly to Dallas for medical evaluation, with all indications pointing toward a positive rehabilitation trajectory.
“It’s going good. I talked to Trevon last week,” Schottenheimer said on Tuesday, via Cowboys.com. “He’s down in Miami doing some training. No timeline for his return. But he had to come back a couple weeks ago to get checked out by the doc. All signs are positive.”
