Chase Elliott recently expressed his admiration for Carl Edwards and the significant influence he has had on NASCAR broadcasts via Amazon Prime. Edwards, a NASCAR Hall of Famer and former driver, began his broadcasting role with the Amazon-owned platform earlier this year. Elliott emphasized that Edwards’ contribution to Prime’s coverage has been widely positive and well received.
Before the NASCAR race weekend in Mexico, Elliott highlighted Edwards as someone he has long respected. The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion described Edwards as a skilled storyteller and a professional presence both on and off camera, noting the broadcaster’s growing reputation among fans and friends.
“He is a great storyteller. He’s always been very professional and he does good in front of cameras. But he’s also a good guy away from that, too. I think he’s good choice for Amazon. I have not gone back and watched the races thus far. But I will say this, everyone that has come up to me – you know, friends or fans or whatever that have watched the races over the last few weeks – have had nothing but incredible things to say. And it seems like it’s been really well done, at least that’s kind of been the perception that’s out there that I’ve heard. So, I think Carl has a big role in that. I think he does a really good job,” Elliott elaborated.
Elliott shared that he values his conversations with Edwards and anticipates spending more time with him. He appreciates Edwards’ sharp insights derived from his successful driving career and applauds his understanding of NASCAR’s evolution. This connection allows Elliott to learn from Edwards’ perspective, making their exchanges enriching.
Chase Elliott’s Performance Amid Winless Streak Reflects Consistent Effort
After concluding a winless 2023 season, Chase Elliott broke his victory drought with a win at Texas in April 2024. However, since that triumph, he has yet to secure another Cup Series win. Going into the Mexico race weekend, Elliott faces a 41-race stretch without a win but remains optimistic about his playoff prospects.

Despite not adding to his win tally recently, Elliott’s consistent performance keeps him firmly positioned in the playoff hunt. Currently fifth in the points standings, he has not finished outside the top 20 in any of the 15 races this season. Furthermore, 12 finishes have been inside the top 10, and three of those were top-five results.
Looking ahead to the race in Mexico, Elliott is motivated to end his winless run. Given his strong finish at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) earlier this year, where he placed among the top five, the #9 driver approaches the upcoming event with confidence and determination.
The Growing Influence of Broadcasters Like Edwards on NASCAR’s New Era
Carl Edwards’ entry into broadcasting coincides with NASCAR’s ongoing embrace of new media platforms like Amazon Prime. His experience as a former driver combined with his communication skills evidently resonates with both fans and professionals within the sport. Elliott’s praise suggests that Edwards plays a key role in elevating the quality and perception of NASCAR’s broadcast coverage in this digital age.
As NASCAR continues to evolve, the presence of knowledgeable broadcasters like Edwards may enhance fan engagement and expand the sport’s reach. Chase Elliott’s recognition of Edwards’ impact highlights the importance of having authentic voices who understand the nuances of racing while adapting to modern media demands. This dynamic likely signals an era where former drivers contribute significantly to shaping NASCAR’s presentation and fan experience moving forward.
