Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts has faced ongoing challenges in his NFL career following an impressive rookie season. Despite showing immense promise as the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Kyle Pitts trade rumors and injury concerns have intensified ahead of the upcoming season.

Pitts made a remarkable impact during his first year, recording 1,026 receiving yards, the second highest ever for a rookie tight end. However, his trajectory took a hit during his second season when he suffered a torn MCL midyear, significantly limiting his play. Over the past three seasons, Pitts has totaled just 1,625 yards, falling short of his initial breakout performance. Currently, he is set to compete under his fifth-year option contract but will become a free agent afterward.

Recent reports from Adam Schefter revealed that Pitts has been absent from voluntary OTAs due to a strained foot muscle, fueling speculation about his future with the Falcons. This development prompted former NFL quarterback Kurt Benkert, who briefly joined Atlanta as an undrafted free agent in 2018, to comment on social media. Benkert stated,

“They do this right before they trade you,”

adding, “He’s gone in my opinion.”

Under head coach Raheem Morris, the Falcons appear focused on rebuilding and are unlikely to extend Pitts’ contract. While other NFL teams may view Pitts as a high-upside player worth the risk, Atlanta will probably aim to trade him before the deadline rather than lose him without compensation.
