Mets Reveal Mark Vientos’ Latest Injury Update as He Begins Rehab Assignment After 10-Game Absence
Mark Vientos begins minor league rehab assignment next week, recovering from a right hamstring strain to aid Mets' playoff hopes.

The New York Mets have provided an update on Mark Vientos’ recovery, revealing that the third baseman and designated hitter will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Syracuse early next week following a right hamstring strain. This news comes after Vientos missed the last 10 games, sidelined since June 2 due to the injury.

Throughout 53 games this season, Vientos is batting .230/.298/.380 with six home runs and 21 RBIs, which is a decline from his impressive .266/.322/.516 line last year. The 25-year-old demonstrated his potential last season by hitting a career-high 27 homers and driving in 71 runs across 111 contests. He also played a key role in the playoffs, batting .327 with five home runs and 14 RBIs in 13 postseason games. If Vientos can regain that form, he could significantly boost the Mets’ chances as they aim for October success.

Current Mets Standing and Team Outlook

The Mets have started their season strongly, now holding a three-game lead over the Chicago Cubs for the best record in the National League. In the NL East division, they lead the Philadelphia Phillies by 4.5 games, with the Atlanta Braves trailing 14 games back in third place. The team has won seven of its last 10 games, maintaining momentum despite Vientos’ absence.

Right-hander Tylor Megill, who holds a 5-4 record and a 3.76 ERA, is scheduled to start against Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Drew Rasmussen (5-4, 2.22 ERA) in their upcoming game. The Mets’ ability to sustain this strong performance while integrating players returning from injury like Vientos will be critical in maintaining their lead.

Potential Impact of Vientos’ Return on Mets’ Playoff Hopes

With Vientos poised to rejoin the roster following his rehab stint, his return could elevate New York’s offensive capabilities. His previous season‘s power and run production levels were vital during the regular season and playoffs. As the Mets continue to hold a strong position in the division, Vientos’ healthy presence could help propel the team deeper into the postseason.

Mark Vientos (right hamstring strain) will begin a minor league rehab assignment early next week at Triple-A Syracuse,
