Angel Reese Crushes Trade Rumors Amid Chicago Sky’s Rocky Start: “I’m Really Happy to Stay”

Angel Reese has faced difficulty maintaining her offensive form early in the Chicago Sky’s sophomore season, contributing to the team’s struggles at the bottom of the WNBA standings. These challenges sparked trade rumors, but Reese has firmly dismissed them, expressing her contentment with the team and appreciation for the organization’s openness.

Reese said,

“Just trying to be patient and give myself grace… I just have great people around me that put a lot of confidence in me…everyone is super transparent…I’m really happy to be here with this organization to be here.”

This season, Reese has posted averages of 10.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.7 steals per game. While these statistics remain strong, her shooting efficiency has been a concern, with a field goal percentage of just 35.7% on nearly 10 attempts each game, coupled with 3.6 turnovers per contest. The Sky have managed only three wins in 11 games, placing them 11th in the league standings ahead of only the Connecticut Sun and Dallas Wings.

Selected seventh overall in the 2024 WNBA draft, Reese quickly became one of women’s basketball’s brightest stars. Despite her rising profile, her shooting struggles have raised questions about her consistency as a top-tier player.

Chicago Sky Leadership Addresses Angel Reese’s Performance Hurdles

Amid the team’s disappointing start, Chicago Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca provided a candid assessment of Angel Reese’s uneven offensive displays. In an interview with Chicago Sun-Times reporter Jason Lieser, Pagliocca acknowledged Reese’s fluctuating performances and their impact on the team’s early 2025 season outcomes.

“She’s had some great games, and she’s had some games like everybody else that haven’t been her best,”

Pagliocca remarked.

“But she’s our best chance at versatility on this roster. We need more production out of her, but we need her to help us in other ways, too.”

He added,

“She’s been putting the time in. She’s been a great teammate. She knows we need to use her in a variety of ways. We’re still trying to pinpoint the most advantageous part of that.”

After finishing 10th last season with only 13 wins and missing the playoffs, the Sky face even greater challenges this year. With competition intensifying, the team must quickly find ways to improve performance and keep their postseason hopes alive.
