Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely is on track for a breakout season, with high hopes of achieving All-Pro status and securing a substantial contract in the near future. Head coach John Harbaugh expressed confidence in Likely’s potential to reach elite levels, emphasizing his belief that the player is capable of becoming one of the league’s top performers.
Likely himself expects to contribute wherever the offense needs him most, whether that’s lining up wide, in-line, or in the backfield.
“I feel like in the offense, whether I’m out wide, in-line, in the backfield, anywhere, really just understanding [my job] and making plays where the plays really aren’t there to be made,”
he said.
“Just always trying to go the distance. Whether I catch a pass, whether I’m blocking down the field, always trying to make an explosive play happen while I’m on the field.”
Joe Flacco Eyes Starting Role in a Crowded Browns Quarterback Race
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco is energized by the opportunity to compete in a complex four-man quarterback competition this offseason. For the first time in several years, Flacco anticipates entering a season with a legitimate chance to win the starting job from Day One. He contrasted this with previous seasons where he joined teams hoping for playing time under favorable circumstances rather than as a primary candidate.
“The last few years of my career I’ve been going into situations where I’m, at some point, hoping to play, or optimistic about the fact that if I do play, I’m doing it with a good team,”
Flacco said.
“I haven’t really gone into the year with a possibility of being the guy to start the season. I just think this year, this situation is giving me the ability to make that a reality. That’s the difference.”
Flacco’s Experience and Physical Preparation at the Forefront
At 36 years old, Flacco shared his thoughts on maintaining his physical condition and sharpening his mental game in a demanding league. He refuted the notion that athleticism inevitably declines with age, emphasizing that players can continue to improve their strength and agility well after their prime years.

“There obviously are some things that change a little bit, after you hit your peak, right around 30 years old. But honestly, it’s definitely a myth that you can’t continue to get stronger, and continue to keep some of that athleticism, and do all those things. And I think I’ve only gained knowledge. And not only have I gained knowledge, but I think I’ve gained a different perspective on things and it’s allowed me to go out and play more relaxed, to let myself just go out there and play,”
Flacco explained.
Jermaine Burton Reflects on Rookie Season and Commitment to Growth
On another note, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jermaine Burton is focusing on leaving his rookie year behind and improving his professionalism both on and off the field. He described his disappointment with his initial season but also highlighted how he has moved past it and used the experience to grow.
“Nobody should be happy with it,”
Burton admitted.
“I was very disappointed, but it’s something that I moved on from, and grew from, and can’t wait, looking forward, really looking forward to this year. Sleepless nights, honestly, just sitting there thinking. I could sit there and just think about football all night. And it’s just something that I love, and something that I really enjoy doing. So I want to do the best that I can to be the better player I can be. I’m just trying my best to be the best player I can be, just coming up with better habits, better routines, and just trying to stay consistent. I learned a lot of things last year, but you really got to be a professional in this league.”
Looking Ahead: What This Means for the NFL Landscape
Isaiah Likely’s trajectory toward All-Pro recognition signifies a promising future for the Ravens’ offense, potentially reshaping their passing game with his versatility and playmaking abilities. Securing such a stellar performance could lead to a lucrative contract, rewarding his on-field contributions.
At the same time, Joe Flacco’s renewed confidence and physical readiness fuel a competitive quarterback battle with the Browns, which could determine their leadership under center for the upcoming season. This competition adds intriguing dynamics to Cleveland’s roster decisions.
Meanwhile, Jermaine Burton’s commitment to improving his craft reflects a broader trend among young players striving to elevate their game and professionalism as they adjust to the NFL’s demands. Such self-awareness and dedication are vital for long-term success in the league.
