In the early hours following the Panthers’ championship win, Barkov carried the Stanley Cup throughout his neighborhood, sharing the moment personally with those nearby.
Bill Zito, the Panthers’ general manager, revealed during a Wednesday segment on The Pat McAfee Show that Barkov’s celebration extended well into the night and early morning hours. A neighbor even corroborated the story with video footage captured on a Ring security camera, capturing the unique festivities.
Barkov’s Key Role in Panthers’ Second Straight Stanley Cup Win
This win marked the second consecutive Stanley Cup title for Barkov and the Florida Panthers, completing a memorable series against the Edmonton Oilers. Although Barkov did not score any goals during the games, he contributed five assists between Games 4 and 6, frequently matching up against Oilers’ star Connor McDavid.
Barkov faced challenges early in the series due to an injury sustained in Game 1, which required stitches after he
split the palm of his hand
. Head coach Paul Maurice explained that the sutures tore repeatedly, leading Barkov to take the extraordinary step of gluing his hand shut to continue playing.
He had those sutures turn out twice until he just glued it together, so that had something to do with his point production,
Maurice said, smiling.
