Jordan Spieth Unwinds After Tough U.S. Open with Beers at Buffalo Wild Wings—Just Like One of Us
Jordan Spieth unwinds with beers at Buffalo Wild Wings after the grueling U.S. Open at Oakmont. Cheers to relaxation!

After enduring the tough conditions at the recent U.S. Open held at Oakmont, Jordan Spieth chose a familiar way to relax by enjoying beers at Buffalo Wild Wings. Spieth finished tied for 23rd place following a final round 72, and to decompress from the mentally demanding tournament, he headed to the popular chain restaurant with his caddie, Michael Greller.

The Challenge of Oakmont and Spieth’s Performance

Oakmont is known as one of the most difficult golf courses globally, testing every player’s skill through its fierce rough and complicated greens. Spieth, who has competed in the U.S. Open fourteen times, managed only his third top-25 finish at this event, a contrast to his victory there in 2015, the same year he won the Masters.

A Relatable Moment Off the Course

Rather than opting for an extravagant recovery, Spieth chose a casual experience that many can relate to: sharing some beers at a local Buffalo Wild Wings, roughly ten miles from Oakmont. When asked about his recovery routine before the upcoming Travelers Championship, Spieth explained how he and Greller stopped by the restaurant.

“I had a few beers Sunday,”

Spieth said.

We were waiting on the Schefflers to come over here, and he was after the delay. So I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with (caddie) Michael (Greller). I didn’t exactly eat or drink the way I normally do there.

Most of the time, it’s very, very good, but sometimes post-U.S. Open, I just needed to throw a few back.

—Jordan Spieth, Professional Golfer

The Significance of These Moments for Spieth’s Game

This simple post-round tradition highlights Spieth’s down-to-earth nature despite his top-tier status. Facing the pressure and disappointment from a tough U.S. Open, this pause to unwind with a cold beer among friends represents a genuine way to reflect and recharge. It also underscores his readiness to move forward as he prepares for the Travelers Championship, showing resilience amid golf’s challenges.
