Rising baseball talent Codey Gauff has impressed many with his performance during recent training games with the San Diego Padres, earning praise from his sister, tennis star Coco Gauff. Although Codey is not yet a full-time player, he has been part of the Padres’ scout team practice roster since 2024, showcasing promising skills on the field.
Codey, the middle child in the Gauff family, began his baseball journey with the Elite Squad Academy and continued developing his game throughout high school. In October 2024, he committed to joining the NCAA Division I Baseball Team at the University of Missouri, where he is set to start in Fall 2025.
Outstanding Performance at the U17 Ultimate Baseball Championship
On June 19, Codey’s mother, Candi, highlighted his impressive achievements at the U17 Ultimate Baseball Championship through Instagram stories. Playing for the East Coast Sox on Day 2 of the tournament, Codey recorded a perfect batting performance with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, including a single, double, and triple, and drove in one run. This distinction placed him among the top hitters of the day.
Coco Gauff also shared a video clip from a Padres training game in which her brother demonstrated agility and speed while trying to get a runner out, emphasizing his quickness and field awareness.
Coco Gauff Attributes Her Success to Support from Her Brothers
Coco Gauff often credits her brothers, Codey and Cameron, for inspiring and supporting her throughout her career. Following her first French Open title win earlier this month, Coco spoke about their influence during an appearance on Good Morning America:
“The support that I have is amazing. My brothers are the reason why I do it,. Codey always reminds me of the belief and having that cockiness. Cameron always reminds me to just be joyful in the things I do. I truly learn a lot from everyone around me.”
Earlier in the year, speaking to Vogue, Coco described how her brothers keep her grounded with their unique brand of encouragement and humor:
“My brothers Codey and Cameron are definitely my biggest support, and they always root for me. And humble me, When I do well, they’re still going to make fun of me. And when I do bad, they’re still going to make fun of me,” she said.
