Jordan Spieth Shares Heartfelt Family Update Amid Injury Recovery and Upcoming Baby News
Jordan Spieth shares a family update amid injury recovery, preparing for a new arrival in July 2025.

Jordan Spieth, sidelined from the Travelers Championship due to a neck and upper-back injury, revealed not only his current physical challenges but also an important personal development involving his family. Spieth and his wife, Annie Verret, who are already parents to son Sammy and daughter Sophie, announced they are expecting another child in July 2025.

Recovery Period Coincides With Joyful Family News

At a press conference on Thursday, Spieth spoke openly about the timing of his injury and his expanding family.

“We’re having a baby here in a couple weeks, so I’ll have some time off now,”

he said, emphasizing how this pause in his career will allow him both to heal and to support his family. Despite the setback, he remains focused on returning to competitive golf as quickly as possible.

Regarding his injury, Spieth acknowledged the disappointment:

“Hopefully, after a few days, I go through the right process to just get right back to where I was. Yeah, it’s a bummer. It’s a bummer at this event, obviously.”

This marks the first time Spieth has been forced to withdraw from a PGA Tour tournament during his 297 starts, making the interruption especially unfortunate.

Family Remains Central Throughout Challenges

The Spieth family has been visible and supportive during his career, including a memorable moment at the Masters’ Par 3 contest where Annie carried her caddie duties while pregnant, and their children cheered nearby. Spieth has spoken about how becoming a father shifted his perspective on golf and life in general.

Reflecting on this change, he said,

“I think having kids and recognizing that, where golf was [my] life, I don’t think it’s necessarily a very healthy thing.”

He elaborated,

“I’d like to be a lot of other things, and what I do is play golf, versus it was all-encompassing. And so that frees your mind up a little bit to maybe take a little bit of pressure off on the bad weeks.”

Looking Ahead: Balancing Recovery and Family Growth

With a new baby expected soon and the necessity of injury recovery, Spieth is at a pivotal moment both professionally and personally. The break from competition offers essential time for healing and for embracing his expanding role as a father. Fans and the golfing community will watch closely as he prepares to return to the sport while navigating these important family milestones.
