Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs Rookie Receiver, Announces Free Youth Football Camp This Saturday

Xavier Worthy, the Kansas City Chiefs rookie receiver known for his blazing speed and dynamic play, has announced a free youth football camp this Saturday. The event will take place at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kansas, providing boys and girls ages 6 to 16 the opportunity to learn directly from an elite NFL athlete.

Worthy’s Impactful Rookie Season and Record-Breaking Speed

Coming from Fresno, California, Worthy entered the NFL as a first-round pick, selected 28th overall in the 2024 draft after an outstanding collegiate career at Texas. Standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 165 pounds, he attracted attention with a remarkable 4.21-second 40-yard dash at the NFL combine, setting a new benchmark for rookie prospects.

During his debut season with the Chiefs, Worthy recorded 59 receptions for 638 yards and scored six touchdowns, demonstrating the explosive potential that made him a standout at Texas. His performance culminated in a historic Super Bowl LIX, where he caught eight passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns, the most receiving yards ever by a rookie in the championship game.

Camp Details and Local Engagement

The youth camp, scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. this Saturday, is organized in partnership with FlexWork Management. It aims to deliver firsthand football training to aspiring young athletes, allowing them to gain valuable skills from Worthy, who brings his experience as a decorated college star and NFL rookie to the field.

Worthy earned two First-Team All-Big 12 honors and was named the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2021 during his collegiate tenure. Instead of playing his senior season, he declared for the draft early in January 2024, rounding out his junior year with 1,014 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 75 catches.

Chiefs’ Outlook and Worthy’s Role in the Team’s Future

After narrowly falling to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, the Kansas City Chiefs are returning largely intact as they prepare for the 2025 season. Under head coach Andy Reid, and led by future Hall of Famers Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the team seeks to maintain its dominance as three-time defending AFC champions, with Worthy expected to play a key role in their offensive arsenal.
