Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever guard, is experiencing a challenging start to the 2025 WNBA season as her team holds a 6-7 record after 13 games. Despite the team’s struggles, Clark continues to solidify her status as a top player in the league, making headlines both on and off the court.
Since entering the WNBA in 2024, Caitlin Clark has shattered multiple records and gathered prestigious awards, including the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year and a place on the All-WNBA First Team. However, success in one area has eluded her: the Favorite Female Sports Star award at the Kids’ Choice Awards.
Recurring Nominee Status at Kids’ Choice Awards
On Saturday, Nickelodeon hosted the 2025 Kids’ Choice Awards, where young fans vote for their favorite stars across various fields. For the second year in a row, Caitlin Clark was nominated for Favorite Female Sports Star but was again bested by Olympic gymnast Simone Biles.
Clark was joined by notable athletes in the category, including soccer icon Alex Morgan, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, tennis players Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka, USA gymnasts Jordan Chiles and Simone Biles, and sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson.
Though Clark did not claim the award, her list of honors outside the WNBA remains impressive. In 2024, she received two ESPY awards and was named TIME Magazine’s Athlete of the Year, highlighting her rising prominence beyond basketball.
Simone Biles’ Outstanding Olympic Achievement
Simone Biles has maintained remarkable athletic achievements over the past year, competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics where she contributed to Team USA’s collection of four medals — three gold and one bronze. This brought her total Olympic medal count to 11, underscoring her dominance in gymnastics and bolstering her appeal in the Kids’ Choice voting.
Clark’s 2025 Season Performance Amid Injury Challenges
Caitlin Clark has seen action in eight games this season, missing five contests due to a quad strain. Despite this, she is averaging strong numbers with 19.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game, positioning herself to earn another All-Star selection. Her continued high-level play suggests that her impact on the league remains significant despite the Fever’s uneven start.
