Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs enjoyed an exhilarating ride on Sunday as part of the “Fastest Seat in Sports” tradition at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. This event took place ahead of the IndyCar Series race, offering Jacobs a unique chance to experience the intensity and speed of IndyCar racing firsthand.
As Green Bay’s leading offensive player, Jacobs was a natural choice to participate in this pre-race activity. Coming off a strong 2023 NFL season in which he played all 17 games and rushed for 1,329 yards with a career-high 15 touchdowns, he remains a critical part of the Packers’ offensive success. Jacobs had previously delivered an outstanding 2022 season with the Las Vegas Raiders, posting over 1,600 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns before being traded to Green Bay ahead of the current season.
Jacobs Solidifies Role as Offensive Leader for the Packers
Since joining the Packers, Jacobs has quickly established himself as a cornerstone of their offense, demonstrating remarkable consistency and impact. Ben Sirmans, the Packers’ running backs coach, praised Jacobs’ development and current form, remarking on the player’s improved quickness and cutting ability during offseason workouts.
“His quickness right now, his cutting ability, going through drills, exploding. … I mean, he looks better this year than he did last year at this time,”
Sirmans said last month ahead of the team’s OTAs.
“The way that he practices is the same way that he plays. He’s looking to set the tone every opportunity he gets and to try to get people to follow and match that type of mentality.”
—Ben Sirmans, Packers Running Backs Coach
The Packers are aiming to improve on last season’s performance when they were ousted in the NFC Wild Card Round by the Philadelphia Eagles. Jacobs’ leadership and production will be essential if Green Bay hopes to return to the postseason and advance further this year.
NFL Stars Continue Tradition of “Fastest Seat in Sports”
Josh Jacobs joins a growing list of NFL stars who have taken part in the “Fastest Seat in Sports” experience prior to major racing events. Notably, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson teamed up for this high-speed ride ahead of the 109th Indianapolis 500. Jacobs’ participation highlights the ongoing connection between top athletes across different sports, merging football excitement with the thrills of IndyCar racing.
With Jacobs embracing this new experience, fans can expect his momentum to carry into the Packers’ upcoming season. His rising form and fierce competitiveness position him as a vital figure for Green Bay’s ambitions moving forward.
