Max Muncy Joins Elite Dodgers Club with 200 Career Home Runs, Eyes Bigger Records Ahead
Max Muncy celebrates his 200th home run with the Dodgers, becoming the eighth player in franchise history to achieve this milestone.

Max Muncy achieved a significant milestone on Sunday by hitting a grand slam in the sixth inning against the Nationals, marking his 200th home run with the Dodgers. This accomplishment places him among an elite group, as he became only the eighth player in Dodgers history to reach 200 home runs for the franchise.

After a difficult start to the season, where Muncy experienced his longest stretch without a home run—28 games and 105 plate appearances—he has regained his power in recent weeks. Over the past month and a half, his performance turned dramatically, signaling a resurgence at the plate.

A Late Season Power Surge After Early Drought

Since breaking through his homerless streak, Muncy has displayed strong hitting, launching 11 home runs in 46 games and 182 plate appearances. Despite not hitting a home run between June 3 and Sunday, during that 16-game span he maintained offensive productivity, posting a batting line of .273/.450/.341 and improving his OPS by four points even without the benefit of any home runs.

On Sunday, after his grand slam, Muncy continued his offensive outburst, adding a three-run homer in the very next inning, which brought his total to 201 home runs with the Dodgers.

Muncy’s Career Milestones and Reflections

Before joining the Dodgers in 2018, Muncy had already hit five home runs with the Oakland Athletics, bringing his overall career home run count to 205. He reflected on reaching the 200-home-run mark with the Dodgers shortly after achieving it during a game against the Yankees on May 31.

“To hit as many as I have in a Dodgers uniform that means everything to me, what this organization has meant to me. It’s a blessing for sure,”

Muncy said.

“It’s a number I’m definitely proud of. Hopefully I’ve still got a lot more in me.”

Position on Dodgers’ All-Time Home Run List

Starting this season ranked ninth in Dodgers history for home runs, Muncy surpassed Carl Furillo’s 192 home runs on May 15. He now stands among seven other players who have hit 200 home runs with the team. The next players he could challenge are Matt Kemp with 203 home runs and Steve Garvey’s 211, both within attainable range as the season progresses.

Sunday marked Muncy’s 898th game with the Dodgers. Notably, his 3,633 plate appearances are the fewest in franchise history to reach 200 home runs, highlighting his impressive power hitting efficiency. Only Hall of Famer Roy Campanella has matched reaching 200 home runs within his first 4,000 plate appearances with the Dodgers.

Muncy’s Standing in Major League Baseball Since 2018

Beyond Dodgers history, Muncy’s power numbers are among the best in Major League Baseball since his call-up from a minor league contract on April 17, 2018. His 201 home runs rank 13th in the majors during this period, placing him just ahead of his teammate Mookie Betts.

With his determination and consistent improvement, Max Muncy’s 200 Dodger home runs mark a milestone that may be surpassed by even greater achievements this season, as he continues to climb the ranks among the franchise’s all-time power hitters.
