Trevor Lawrence leads the Jacksonville Jaguars' comeback hopes, aiming to elevate from last season's struggles with Travis Hunter.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are placing their hopes on quarterback Trevor Lawrence and rookie standout Travis Hunter to lead a revival after a challenging 4-13 season, which was one of the worst in the league. With Lawrence recovering from injury and Hunter making an impact as a two-way player, the team aims to improve its standing in the 2025 NFL season.

Injury Challenges Impacted Lawrence’s 2024 Performance

Last season, Trevor Lawrence played only ten games due to injuries, missing more than half of the season’s second half. He sustained a left shoulder injury during Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles and briefly returned before suffering a concussion that placed him on injured reserve, sidelining him for the remainder of the year. As Lawrence prepares for his fifth NFL season, he is focused on making a significant push to reach the postseason for the second time in his career.

Insights on Lawrence’s Recovery and Offseason Preparation

During an appearance on NFL Network’s “The Insiders,” sportscaster Sara Walsh offered perspectives on Lawrence’s progress following his shoulder surgery in December and his readiness for the upcoming season. Walsh highlighted that Lawrence had not thrown a football for about four months following the procedure, but he has been diligently working on refining his footwork and enhancing his ability to read defenses through film study.

“Trevor Lawrence certainly feels that way,”

Walsh said.

“It’s been a long time since he had thrown a football, at least for him. Four months off of not throwing from a surgery that happened in December.”

“He said that he’s been working on a few things, some subtle things this offseason. His footwork, not major changes, and then using his eyes as a weapon against the defense. Little things that he has picked up from video.”

Support from Rookie Talent and Team Additions

Walsh also discussed the vital role Travis Hunter is expected to play alongside Lawrence, along with wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., who set new rookie records last season. Lawrence views Hunter’s development this offseason as a key factor in the team’s progress, emphasizing the need to reset mentally after a demanding first year in the NFL.

“Lawrence says that he’s already seen Travis Hunter grow tremendously during this offseason, but he said now is the time that he can get his mind right. Reset a little bit because he’s had so much thrown at him,”

Walsh noted.

“And Trevor also said in the next couple of weeks he’s going to be spending quite a bit of time with Hunter so that they can work on timing and then also just to be going over everything in a new system, because it’s not just new to Hunter, it’s really new to everyone.”

In addition to Lawrence and Hunter, the Jaguars have strengthened their roster by adding players such as Eric Murray, Patrick Mekari, and Robert Hainsey, aiming to enhance the team’s overall firepower and defensive capabilities.

Expectations for the 2025 Season

Jacksonville Jaguars fans are looking forward to a turnaround with the combination of Lawrence’s leadership and Hunter’s two-way contributions. Following a frustrating 2024 campaign, the commitment to recovery, skill development, and new team dynamics signals hope for a more competitive and successful 2025 season.
