Corey Heim leads the NASCAR Championship odds as Jordan Taylor tackles Lime Rock Park challenge this weekend.

Jordan Taylor, a seasoned road racer with multiple IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Series titles, is preparing to make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut on Saturday at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut. Taylor’s entrance brings valuable road course experience to Spire Motorsports’ lineup, as the team fields the No. 7 Chevrolet at the 1.53-mile, seven-turn circuit.

Known also by his nickname Rodney Sandstorm, Taylor, 34, boasts four IMSA championships and has proven success on asphalt tracks similar to Lime Rock. He will compete against Truck Series points leader Corey Heim, who entered the week with the top sports-betting odds to win the 2025 championship, according to BetOnline Sportsbook.

Spire Motorsports’ Unique Strategy with Rotating Drivers

The No. 7 truck for Spire Motorsports features a rotation of drivers throughout the season, including NASCAR Cup Series regulars like Kyle Busch and Carson Hocevar, who have already secured wins at Atlanta and Kansas respectively this year. Taylor joins this talented roster for the Lime Rock event, offering his road racing expertise to enhance the team’s performance on a challenging short track.

Taylor expressed optimism about adapting quickly to the Truck Series, stating,

“I just hope I can adapt to the truck quickly on the short weekend. Lime Rock Park is a track I know really well, but obviously all my experience around there is in much different types of cars, so I’m looking forward to the new challenge.”

Taylor’s Racing Background and Prior NASCAR Experience

While Taylor is new to the Truck Series, he has prior NASCAR experience from 2023, including one Cup Series start at Circuit of The Americas where he qualified fourth but finished 24th. Additionally, he competed in two Xfinity Series races last year, placing 24th at Portland and 16th at the Charlotte Roval.

Beyond NASCAR, Taylor has an impressive sports car résumé, claiming two Rolex 24 at Daytona victories as well as wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 2017 and 2024, along with Petit Le Mans triumphs in 2014 and 2018. This extensive success brings strong road racing credentials to his NASCAR venture.

Jeff Dickerson, Spire Motorsports co-owner, highlighted Taylor’s experience by saying,

“Jordan Taylor’s body of work speaks for itself. His accomplishments at the global level are more than impressive so we’re obviously thrilled to have Jordan drive our (machine) this weekend.”

Lime Rock Park’s Historic Role in Motorsport

Since opening in 1957, Lime Rock Park has been a prominent venue for major racing events like the Trans-Am Series, IMSA SportsCar Championship’s Northeast Grand Prix, International Race of Champions, and the Rolex Sports Car Series. NASCAR’s K&N Pro Series East also held races here from 1993 to 2010. Taylor’s road racing skills are well-suited for this storied track, known for its technical layout and fast pace.

Current Championship Odds Favor Corey Heim

As the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series reaches Week 15, Corey Heim holds the leading odds to secure the driverschampionship. BetOnline Sportsbook lists Heim with the top betting position at -115, reflecting confidence in his current performance and consistency throughout the season. The competition remains fierce with seasoned drivers and emerging talents like Taylor adding fresh dynamics to the field.
