Lexie Hull Supports Caitlin Clark Amid Historic Shooting Slump: “Happens to Every Great Player”
Lexie Hull stands by Caitlin Clark, showing unwavering confidence amid her shooting struggles for the Indiana Fever.

Lexie Hull expressed strong support for Caitlin Clark after another challenging performance from the Indiana Fever’s star guard, who is currently enduring a notable shooting slump. Despite the Fever’s hard-fought 94-86 victory over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, Clark’s struggles from the field remained a prominent issue.

The former Iowa standout is facing the toughest phase of her career, especially in away games. On the road, Clark has made just one three-pointer in her last 28 attempts, while her home shooting remains better with 22 successful three-point shots out of 50 attempts. In Tuesday’s game, she missed all six of her three-point tries, marking only one made three-pointer in her last 23 attempts.

While fans have shown growing concern on social media, Hull reinforced her belief that Clark’s form will improve, emphasizing her confidence after the win.

“She’ll be fine. We are not worried about it. She’s a great shooter, great player, this happens to every great player.”

Clark struggled to find rhythm on Tuesday, and her tally of more turnovers than points highlights her continuing difficulties. The Fever are now set to return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse, where Clark has noticeably succeeded this season, as she aims for a rebound and a break from her recent slump.

Turnover Issues Add to Clark’s Challenges

In addition to her shooting problems, Caitlin Clark’s turnover rate has become a significant factor for the Indiana Fever. While she shares the league lead in assists with 8.9 per game alongside Alyssa Thomas, Clark is also averaging a league-high 5.9 turnovers each contest, far surpassing other players.

The closest players in turnovers are Angel Reese, Chelsea Gray, and Kelsey Plum, each averaging roughly 3.4 turnovers per game. Clark committed eight turnovers during the game against the Storm on Tuesday. Should her shooting difficulties continue alongside such turnover levels, the challenges for the Fever’s overall performance will intensify considerably.

Looking Ahead: The Need for a Turnaround at Gainbridge Fieldhouse

The significance of the upcoming home games at Gainbridge Fieldhouse cannot be overstated for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever as a whole. Clark’s strong home shooting performance this season provides hope that she can overcome her slump and reduce turnovers in a familiar environment. A return to form for the Fever’s star guard would be crucial in improving the team’s competitive edge and prospects in the league going forward.
