Collin Morikawa’s Surprising Caddie Changes: How Many Has He Had in Just Five Years?
Collin Morikawa parts ways with caddie Joe Greiner, now teaming up with former college mate KK Limbhasut for Rocket Classic.

Collin Morikawa has ended his working relationship with his caddie Joe Greiner just before the 2025 Rocket Classic tournament. Throughout his professional career, Morikawa has had only two official caddies: he initially worked with Jonathan “JJ” Jakovac, and more recently with Greiner. After parting ways with Greiner, Morikawa will be reuniting with KK Limbhasut, his former college teammate, who will serve as his caddie for the upcoming event.

Tracing the History of Morikawa’s Caddie Partnerships

Morikawa’s professional career began in 2019, the same year Jonathan Jakovac approached him about caddying. Jakovac, who sought guidance from experienced caddie Paul Tesori, connected with Morikawa after a 45-minute phone conversation. This conversation led to Jakovac joining Morikawa at the U.S. Open qualifier, marking the start of their professional collaboration.

During their partnership, Morikawa achieved significant milestones, including winning two Major championships and four PGA Tour titles. Despite their on-course success, the duo decided to end their partnership in late April of this year. Speaking about the split on the Dan on Golf Show, Morikawa expressed a thoughtful perspective on the reasons behind their parting.

“Firstly, it doesn’t take anything away from what JJ and I have done over the last six years, but sometimes things just aren’t feeling right. I think when people look at it in the macro perspective of ‘OK, Collin’s playing great, he’s contending, he’s trying to close out tournaments’. Even at the beginning of the year everything looked very, very good, but sometimes, on the golf course things just don’t feel right,” Morikawa said.

Before working with Morikawa, Jakovac had experience caddying for players like Matt Bettencourt, Zack Miller, Peter Tomasulo, John Merrick, and Ryan Moore.

The Brief Tenure of Joe Greiner as Morikawa’s Caddie

Earlier in the year, Morikawa embarked on a new chapter with Joe Greiner, who brought extensive experience as Max Homa’s full-time caddie over six years. However, their partnership was short-lived, dissolving after only five tournaments. Morikawa recently discussed the reasons for their split in an interview with CBS Sports.

“I think Joe is an amazing caddie, but I think just the way we kind of saw things, or just day to day how we kind of went about it, we were just a little bit on a different page. That doesn’t mean it’s right or wrong, but for me, it just didn’t feel right. I have to explore other options. I knew that coming in.”

This candid explanation highlighted that despite mutual respect, their approaches did not align well enough to continue together.

What Comes Next for Morikawa and His Caddie Situation

Morikawa’s return to working with KK Limbhasut marks a notable shift, potentially bringing a fresh dynamic to his caddie relationship. As Morikawa prepares for the 2025 Rocket Classic, these changes reflect his ongoing search for the best fit to support his career. Given his history of success with dedicated caddies and the professionalism he maintains during transitions, this adjustment could influence his performance positively in the coming tournaments.
