Brad Stevens Reveals Crucial Jayson Tatum Injury Recovery Update: Celtics Superstar’s Road to Return
Jayson Tatum is committed to recovery, working daily with trainers as he rehabs from his Achilles injury.

Brad Stevens, the Boston Celtics president of basketball operations, provided an important update on Jayson Tatum’s injury recovery following his Achilles rupture during the Eastern Conference semifinals on May 12. While Stevens did not specify a timeline for Tatum’s return, he confirmed the Celtics star is actively engaged in his rehab process this offseason.

Addressing reporters during the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, Stevens emphasized the commitment Tatum has shown in his recovery.

“Jayson has been here pretty much every day,”

he said, highlighting the player’s daily presence at the team facility.

Support System and Rehabilitation Environment at the Auerbach Center

Tatum is working closely with Celtics athletic trainer Nick Sang as part of his recovery regimen. Alongside Tatum, Jaylen Brown has also been a regular visitor at the Auerbach Center while recovering from knee surgery this offseason. Stevens noted the unusual commitment both players demonstrate during a period when athletes often take time off.

“We’ve seen both those guys very frequently,”

Stevens remarked.

“It’s usually the time of year I don’t see those guys a lot. They usually rest and get away. But they both prioritize getting better and rehabbing, and after a long season, I appreciate that about them.”

Celtics’ Focus on Health and Team Priorities Ahead of Next Season

Stevens outlined the team’s priorities as they manage salary cap flexibility, aim to retain free agents such as Al Horford and Luke Kornet, and emphasize player health. Above all, the Celtics recognize the importance of ensuring Tatum’s full recovery before he returns to the court.

“We’ve got to prioritize JT’s health, and make sure he comes back fully strong,”

Stevens explained. He added,

“The biggest challenge for our team is our First Team All-NBA player is in a boot. That’s No. 1. We know that going into next year. Everything else is second to that.”

Earlier this month, Tatum himself shared an optimistic status update about his healing on social media, showing his continued dedication to overcoming this setback. The Celtics’ careful approach to his Jayson Tatum injury recovery update will be critical to their success in the upcoming season.
