Sam Bennett signs an 8-year contract with the Panthers, aiming for a third consecutive Stanley Cup victory.

Sam Bennett has signed an eight-year contract worth $64 million with the Florida Panthers, securing his return as the team aims for a third consecutive Stanley Cup. The agreement was finalized before the start of the NHL free agency period, reinforcing the Panthers’ roster stability.

Bennett’s Performance Drives Contract Renewal

Bennett became a free agent after completing a four-year, $17.7 million deal with Florida following the 2024-25 season. Throughout that contract year, he contributed 25 goals and 26 assists over 76 regular-season games, serving as the Panthers’ second-line center. His strong performance extended into the playoffs, where he led the team with 15 goals in 23 games and earned the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP while helping Florida secure its second straight Stanley Cup.

Key Role in Panthers’ Lineup and Team Success

Bennett’s ability to complement linemates Matthew Tkachuk and Evan Rodrigues strengthened Florida’s hard-hitting and physical style of play, providing crucial depth among the top six forwards. Alongside center Aleksander Barkov, Bennett will continue to form a formidable duo down the middle as the Panthers prepare to compete for another championship in 2026.

Career Overview and Panthers Impact

Originally drafted fourth overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2014 NHL Draft, Bennett spent seven seasons with Calgary before joining Florida during the 2020-21 season. In his four and a half seasons with the Panthers, he has amassed 95 goals and 101 assists in 289 regular season games, alongside 29 goals and 30 assists across 77 playoff contests. His consistent playoff production has been integral to the team’s recent success.
