Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek showcased exceptional performances at the Bad Homburg Open, wrapping up their preparations on grass courts ahead of Wimbledon. Pegula, the American, triumphed in the final against Swiatek in straight sets, asserting her grass court dominance just days before the Grand Slam begins.

Throughout the tournament in Germany, Pegula faced tough challenges, including intense three-set matches against Emma Navarro and Linda Noskova, but ultimately prevailed. Swiatek’s path was smoother, as she reached her first grass-court final without conceding a set before falling 4-6, 5-7 to Pegula.

During the post-match exchange, Pegula offered reassuring advice to Swiatek, emphasizing the Pole’s skill on grass despite her own doubts about the surface. Swiatek praised Pegula’s strong play and expressed optimism about her potential on grass.

“First of all, I want to congratulate Jessie [Pegula], you have an amazing game and you showed that throughout the whole tournament. It was really a big challenge and a pleasure to play against you again,”

Swiatek remarked.

“Hopefully, we’re going to have many more finals together ahead of us, and congrats on this trophy. For Jessie’s team as well, good job guys.”

“I think this tournament shows that there is hope for me on grass. I’m happy that I could play here, I’m happy that I could prove that.”

In response, Pegula acknowledged Swiatek’s progress on grass and encouraged her to be more confident.

“Congrats to Iga [Swiatek], on a great week, and to your team,”

Pegula said.

“I know you say you can’t play on grass, but trust me, you’re still very good on grass, so cut yourself some slack.”

She also wished Swiatek success for Wimbledon, which starts within days.

“Good luck next week as well, I know it’s a quick turnaround for both of us, but I hope you guys have a good, healthy few weeks, wish you all nothing but the best,”

Pegula added.

Jessica Pegula Achieves Unique 2025 Milestone with Victory on Grass

With her victory at Bad Homburg, Jessica Pegula became the only woman in 2025 to claim titles on all three major surfaces—hard, clay, and grass. This marks her third championship of the year, highlighting her versatility and consistency across conditions.

Only six players have secured multiple titles this year, with Aryna Sabalenka being the sole other competitor with three trophies. Sabalenka’s wins have come on clay and hard courts, but she has yet to claim a grass-court title.

Looking ahead, a Wimbledon title could allow Pegula to surpass Sabalenka for the top ranking, although she remains focused on her immediate challenge. Pegula will start her Wimbledon campaign on Tuesday, July 1, facing Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto.
