Veteran Calls Michael Chandler WWE Debut Talk Laughable: Is the UFC Star Ready for Wrestling?
Michael Chandler hints at WWE debut, stirring reactions amidst skepticism from Vince Russo about his physique and age.

UFC star Michael Chandler has recently sparked conversations about a possible Michael Chandler WWE debut talk after hinting at a future in professional wrestling. While many fans and analysts are intrigued by the prospect, WWE veteran Vince Russo expressed skepticism about Chandler’s suitability for the wrestling industry. Russo’s doubts focus primarily on Chandler’s size and physical attributes, which he says do not fit the typical mold of successful WWE athletes.

Chandler gained wide recognition through his strong performances in Bellator before making a mark in the UFC. His fighting skills and athleticism have led some to draw parallels between him and athletes like Ronda Rousey, who successfully crossed into pro wrestling. However, Russo dismissed the idea by highlighting Chandler’s stature, suggesting it makes the possibility laughable.

During a recent episode of The Wrestling Outlaws, Russo commented:

“(Chuckles) 5’8″, a 156 pounds and 40 years old? Are you freaking kidding me? The guy looks like Johnny Gargano. This is what we are talking about? I just googled Michael Chandler. Brother, you better beg Triple H for a job. 5’8″ and a 156 pounds?” [8:38 onwards]

Michael Chandler’s Conversations with WWE Leadership

Despite doubts from wrestling insiders like Russo, Michael Chandler has been open about exploring opportunities in WWE. He confirmed having discussions with Triple H, a key WWE executive, about the possibility of joining the pro wrestling promotion. Chandler expressed enthusiasm for keeping the option alive, emphasizing his respect for the industry and interest in future possibilities.

In an interview with The Schmo, Chandler explained his mindset regarding wrestling:

“I was talking to Triple H about my WWE contract, so we’re trying to make that happen… It’s always fun conversations. Who knows if anything is ever going to happen, but he knows I want that door to be open and I think he wants that door to be open too… I know it’s a little bit old school but Rey Mysterio Jr., I know he’s still getting after it, still has it, but man, that would be a really, really fun [match].”

The Road Ahead for Michael Chandler’s Wrestling Aspirations

Although it remains uncertain whether Michael Chandler will officially make his WWE debut, his ongoing talks indicate mutual interest between the UFC veteran and WWE’s decision-makers. Chandler’s athletic background and competitive nature could translate well to wrestling, despite concerns about his size and age raised by figures like Russo.

The potential crossover also reflects a broader trend where combat sports stars explore wrestling avenues, blurring lines between fighting disciplines. Fans and industry watchers will likely monitor Chandler’s next moves closely to see if he transitions from UFC to WWE in the near future.

Only time will reveal whether Michael Chandler can overcome these hurdles and carve a place for himself within WWE’s roster, contributing to the evolving landscape of professional wrestling.
