Lewis Hamilton shares a cozy moment with Roscoe before Silverstone return.

Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion, has confirmed that his cherished pet bulldog Roscoe will join him once again at the paddock during the 2025 British Grand Prix. After overcoming a serious health issue earlier this year, Roscoe is now healthy enough to accompany Hamilton at Silverstone for this notable event.

Hamilton has a well-known affection for his dogs, having previously shared his life with two bulldogs, Coco and Roscoe. While Coco passed away some years ago, Roscoe remains Hamilton’s loyal companion. Earlier in 2025, Roscoe battled pneumonia, requiring Hamilton to appoint a caretaker as his racing commitments kept him busy. Fortunately, Roscoe’s recovery has been successful, allowing him to return to the trackside atmosphere he has become familiar with.

This year’s British Grand Prix, set for Sunday, July 6, is particularly significant for Hamilton as it marks his first home race competing for Scuderia Ferrari. The previous year at Silverstone, he ended a winless streak by claiming victory, making this home event a key highlight in his season. Despite this milestone, the current campaign has presented challenges, as Hamilton strives to adapt to Ferrari’s car and team dynamics. The team faced a delay in delivering a rear suspension upgrade, originally planned for Austria but now postponed until Spa, meaning Hamilton will rely on the same car setup used in Austria, where he secured a fourth-place finish.

Details on Roscoe’s Health and Hamilton’s Concerns

Roscoe, Hamilton’s 12-year-old bulldog, endured a significant health scare earlier this year with a diagnosis of pneumonia. The seriousness of the illness weighed heavily on Hamilton, especially due to his demanding race schedule. Speaking candidly in May, Hamilton revealed his ongoing worry for Roscoe’s condition and his eagerness to have his dog with him at races once again.

“He’s 12 and a half years old, so he’s an old boy. He had pneumonia, but he’s fine now. But this is a time where every time I get a text message from the lady who’s looking after him, my heart stops for a second. You know, what’s next?”

“I really want to try and bring him to Silverstone, and particularly to Monza, this year. Get him a red cape. It’s unusual for a bulldog to be as old as he is. I was with him before Miami, and he still wants to play. Still got that kind of youthful spirit. He does like to sleep a lot.”

With Roscoe now fully recovered, Hamilton confirmed that his bulldog will be part of the paddock environment during the British Grand Prix weekend. This event begins Friday, July 4, with the first practice sessions, followed by qualifying on Saturday, and concludes with the race Sunday afternoon.

Having Roscoe return to Silverstone symbolizes more than just companionship for Hamilton; it represents a source of comfort and emotional support as he navigates a challenging season with Ferrari. The presence of his longtime pet also highlights the personal side of a driver often seen under the intense spotlight of Formula 1 racing.

As Hamilton prepares to tackle the remainder of the 2025 season, Roscoe’s return serves as a hopeful sign of resilience, both on and off the track, strengthening the bond that has helped sustain Hamilton through demanding times.
