Major League Baseball announced the starting players for the 2025 All-Star Game on Wednesday evening following two rounds of fan voting. This year’s Midsummer Classic is set to take place on Tuesday, July 15, at Truist Park in Cumberland, Georgia, the home stadium of the Atlanta Braves.
Leading the starters are Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, each topping their league’s fan voting. Both players bypassed the second voting phase and were automatically named as starters for the game.
Notable First-Time and Historic Starters Among the Fan Favorites
Several players earned significant milestones in the 2025 All-Star selections. Francisco Lindor received his first career starting nod and his first Mets All-Star appearance since joining the team in 2021. Jacob Wilson of the Athletics became the first rookie shortstop ever to win the fan vote, edging out Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals. Cal Raleigh secured a starting spot as the first Seattle Mariners catcher chosen since Nelson Cruz in 2015.
Javier Báez, now with the Detroit Tigers, earned his third All-Star start at a third different position, showcasing his versatility. Additionally, Ketel Marte of the Arizona Diamondbacks became the first National League second baseman to win back-to-back fan votes since Chase Utley, who had five consecutive starts from 2006 through 2010. On a team level, both the Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers lead with three starting players each among position players.

Remaining Roster Set to be Announced Ahead of the Game
The rest of the All-Star Game rosters will be revealed on Sunday, July 6. Those players are selected through a combination of fan and player voting. The American League will be managed by New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone, while the National League team will be led by Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. Both managers will also determine their teams’ starting pitchers ahead of the event in Georgia.
