Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott expressed his excitement Tuesday about joining forces with wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens for the 2025 season. Speaking at his annual youth football camp in Southlake, Texas, Prescott said it’s “exciting as hell” to get the ball to this dynamic duo as the team looks to build on its offensive strengths.
Statistics and Background on Cowboys’ Receiving Corps
The Cowboys acquired George Pickens in a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers last May. Over three NFL seasons, Pickens has recorded 174 catches for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns, making him a valuable complement to Lamb’s proven production. Lamb, a former Oklahoma standout, has delivered four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and three straight with over 100 yards receiving. In 2023, he led the NFL with 135 receptions for 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, establishing himself as Dallas’ top receiving threat.
Pickens, who was a leading receiver in Pittsburgh, offers strong support alongside Lamb, creating an exciting offensive weapon set. Prescott highlights this connection as a key factor in the team’s offensive outlook.
Prescott’s Recovery and Readiness for Training Camp
After missing the latter part of the 2024 season due to a partial avulsion of his right hamstring, Prescott reported he will be fully healthy heading into training camp. He shared from his youth football camp,
“I’ll be full go for camp. I’m healthy. Yeah, I think soon here I’ll probably get the official sign off from doc, but I’m healthy.”
His return is crucial as the Cowboys prepare under their new head coach, Brian Schottenheimer, who was promoted from offensive coordinator following Mike McCarthy’s departure.
Looking Ahead to the 2025 Campaign
Prescott, Lamb, and Pickens are set to begin Cowboys training camp on July 22, aiming to build strong chemistry for the upcoming season. Dallas will open the regular season on the road against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, September 4. The integration of Pickens alongside Lamb and the full return of Prescott signal an exciting chapter for the Cowboys as they pursue success in 2025.
Prescott on the Potential of the Offense
To be the guy that gets to get them the ball, it’s exciting as hell because you can turn on the OTA tapes and one of the guys, the ball is in the air [for] and [the] other one has got his had up celebrating already,
Prescott said.
We’ve just got to continue to grow that and continue to make sure that that’s trending the right way.
