UFC Cuts Four Fighters Including 14-Fight Vet in Latest Roster Shakeup

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has once again made adjustments to its fighter lineup by removing four athletes from the active roster. On July 9, 2025, reporter Al Zullino confirmed that Trevin Giles, Viviane Araujo, Jordan Vucenic, and Ange Loosa have all been released from their contracts or not renewed by the promotion. This latest roster change reflects the organization’s ongoing efforts to manage its extensive mixed martial arts talent pool.

Trevin Giles Ends UFC Run After 14 Bouts

Among those cut, Trevin Giles stands out with the most UFC experience, having competed in 14 fights. Known as “The Problem,” Giles was scheduled for a last-minute bout at UFC Vegas 107 against Andreas Gustafsson. However, the fight was canceled after he suffered a head injury in a fall during early morning weigh-ins. Giles finishes his UFC tenure with a 7-7 record and departs while on a three-fight losing streak that includes a recent defeat to Mike Malott.

Viviane Araujo’s Mixed UFC Journey Concludes

Viviane Araujo joined the UFC in 2019 amid considerable excitement following a standout debut, where she delivered a knockout victory over Talita Bernardo at UFC 237. Despite this impressive start, her subsequent performance was inconsistent. Throughout her time in the promotion, she achieved wins against notable fighters such as Roxanne Modafferi, Alexis Davis, Andrea Lee, and Jennifer Maia, earning a place in the top 15 rankings for several years. Her last UFC victory was against unbeaten Karine Silva, but in her most recent fight, Araujo lost by unanimous decision to Tracy Cortez at UFC 317. She leaves the UFC with a record of 7-6 inside the promotion.

Jordan Vucenic Fails to Secure UFC Spot After Short Stints

Jordan Vucenic, nicknamed “The Epidemic,” worked hard to break into the UFC but struggled to find success. His debut on short notice saw a competitive match against Guram Kutateladze, but he was subsequently submitted in the second round in a fight where he was a heavy betting favorite against Chris Duncan. At 29 years old, there remains potential for Vucenic to return to the UFC, but currently, he exits with an 0-2 UFC record.

Ange Loosa Leaves UFC Following Mixed Results

Ange Loosa compiled two wins and three losses in his time on the UFC roster. He defeated AJ Fletcher and Rhys McKee, but his most recent bout ended in a knockout loss to Phil Rowe after leading much of the fight. Loosa, also known as “The Last Ninja,” gained recognition for one of the best performances in Contender Series history during a 2021 fight against Jack Della Maddalena. He ends his UFC tenure with a record of 2-3-1.

Implications of the Latest Cuts on UFC’s Fighter Landscape

This latest round of releases highlights the continued pressure on fighters to maintain winning records and deliver standout performances amid fierce competition. The departure of experienced competitors like Giles and Araujo opens opportunities for new talent to rise through the ranks. As the UFC prepares upcoming events, further roster changes are likely, impacting matchmaking and division dynamics in the months ahead.
