Patrick Reed has arrived in Spain to compete in LIV Golf Andalucia from July 11 to 13 at Real Club Valderrama, aiming to secure a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team as one of captain Keegan Bradley‘s selections. The LIV golfer carries strong momentum after recently winning his first LIV Golf League event in Dallas, boosting his chances for a Ryder Cup berth.
Reed, a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour, earned his breakthrough LIV victory by birdying the opening playoff hole, surpassing Jinichiro Kozuma, Louis Oosthuizen, and Paul Casey. He also played a key role for the 4Aces GC team led by Dustin Johnson, which finished second in the team competition. Reed hopes to continue his strong form at the Andalucia event and impress Bradley ahead of the Ryder Cup at Bethpage later this year.
Reed’s Ryder Cup History and Current Position
Having previously represented the United States in the Ryder Cup three times—in 2014, 2016, when the U.S. won, and 2018—Patrick Reed has missed the last three teams but seeks to change that this season. As a player known for his Ryder Cup performances, often nicknamed “Captain America,” he currently ranks 36th in points with 2,821.82. With limited opportunities to earn Ryder Cup points, especially as a LIV golfer who only accrues scoring chances in Majors, Reed recognizes the challenge but remains confident.

At a recent press conference ahead of the tournament, Reed explained:
“I think it all comes down to next week at The Open. Obviously play well here, but go ahead and win the Open Championship, and I believe I’d be inside the top 6 on points, so I think that would lock it in and allow me to be on the team.”
Discussing the alternative of being chosen as captain Bradley’s pick, he said:
“Really the next couple weeks I have to play some solid golf, go out and contend on Sundays, have a chance to win golf tournaments, and if I do that, then hopefully Keegan picks me.”
Reed’s Form and Betting Odds at LIV Golf Andalucia
Patrick Reed performed well in his last LIV Andalucia appearance, finishing tied for fourth. Entering this week’s event, he holds +1600 odds to win the title. This season, Reed has posted a consistent campaign with four top-10 finishes and seven inside the top 25 overall.
Other notable players and their odds include Bryson DeChambeau at +550, Tyrrell Hatton at +850, Joaquin Niemann at +900, Sergio Garcia at +1800, and Phil Mickelson with long odds at +15000.
What Lies Ahead for Reed and the Ryder Cup Team
Reed’s performance at The Open Championship and remaining LIV events will be crucial in determining his Ryder Cup fate, as strong results could seal his place in the U.S. squad either through automatic qualification or as captain Keegan Bradley’s pick. With his experience and competitive spirit, Reed remains hopeful that he can contribute once again to Team USA’s Ryder Cup efforts at Bethpage later this year.
