Following a challenging performance at the recent Lewis Hamilton Silverstone British Grand Prix, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion was seen returning to London with a surprise group. Accompanying Hamilton on a short helicopter ride from Silverstone were actress Anya Taylor-Joy, known for her role in the Hollywood film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and her husband, musician Malcolm McRae.
Images captured by the Daily Mail revealed the trio disembarking from the helicopter, with Taylor-Joy dressed in Ferrari-branded apparel, including a jacket and matching baseball cap. The 29-year-old actress had also been a guest in the Scuderia Ferrari garage during the race, supporting her close friend alongside fellow actress Rebecca Ferguson. Despite this star-studded encouragement, Hamilton finished fourth in difficult weather conditions and again missed out on a podium for Ferrari.
Hamilton endures disappointment on home turf
At his home circuit, Hamilton was narrowly overtaken for third place by Nico Hulkenberg, a veteran Sauber driver who claimed his first-ever podium after 239 races. While the day was historic for Hulkenberg, it only deepened the frustration for Hamilton, extending his streak to twelve Ferrari races without a podium finish. The 40-year-old racer faced a sober afternoon at Silverstone, a track full of cherished memories, including his unexpected win there last year with Mercedes.
Currently, Hamilton holds sixth place in the drivers’ championship, trailing his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc by one position, even though Leclerc failed to score points in the same race. The ongoing struggles this season have led some pundits to speculate about Hamilton’s potential departure from Ferrari before the year ends. Nevertheless, Hamilton has expressed a firm commitment to improving his performance and staying with the Scuderia for the foreseeable future.
Ongoing challenges within Ferrari and Formula 1
The difficulties at Silverstone reflect a broader tense period for both Hamilton and Ferrari. Despite his well-known frustrations, Hamilton remains focused on reclaiming the form that once established him as a dominant force on the grid. Meanwhile, internal team disagreements, such as those involving Ferrari’s team principal, continue to capture headlines, highlighting the pressure surrounding the team this season.
With the championship progressing, Hamilton’s resilience will be tested further as he aims to break the current trend of disappointing finishes. The Silverstone race served as a stark reminder of the challenges he faces, but it also underscored his determination to regain a podium position and strengthen his campaign.
“Hamilton, for his part, remains determined to turn things around and rediscover the kind of form which previously made him one of the most feared drivers on the grid, recently declaring that he has no intention of leaving the Scuderia anytime soon.” —Source
