Jazz Chisholm Jr. credits weight gain to increased water intake, reaching 190 pounds while maintaining an impressive baseball record.

New York Yankees All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. has gained 13 pounds since late April, reaching a weight of 190 pounds after struggling to add mass throughout his career. The surprising reason behind this increase is not changes in diet or traditional weight-gain methods, but an exceptionally high water intake.

Chisholm revealed to The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner that his water consumption has increased dramatically.

“Compared to the amount of water I used to drink, I drink like eight times (more now),”

he said.

“It’s just ridiculous the amount of water intake I have now. My stomach always feels full as f–k because of the water.”

The Role of Water in Chisholm’s Weight Increase

This added hydration is the sole change in his routine during this period, as his diet, including red meat or calorie intake, has remained the same.

“I could be eating a lot and I’d still be at 177 pounds. I just drink an insane amount of water,”

Chisholm explained.

This strategy seems to be working well for him, not only in weight gain but also in performance. Currently, he is experiencing a strong season with the Yankees, boasting a .250 batting average, 17 home runs, 43 RBIs, 39 runs scored, and an .861 OPS in just 65 games, which earned him his second All-Star selection.

Since joining the Yankees midway through last season, Chisholm has hit 28 home runs across 111 games, clearly thriving in New York. Some attribute the city‘s famously unique water—often joked about in relation to New York bagels—as a possible factor influencing Chisholm’s results.

Potential Impact of Chisholm’s Weight Gain on His Career

Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s unusual approach to weight gain through increased water intake could be an interesting development for athletes seeking to improve their physical condition. This change may help him maintain his momentum in the MLB while adjusting to the physical demands of the season. Watching how this affects his future performance could provide valuable insights for players and trainers alike.
