UFC Return to Perth Fight Night Set for September 28: What to Expect from the Exciting Card
UFC returns to Perth on September 28 for an exciting Fight Night, marking its fourth visit Down Under.

The UFC is preparing to return to Perth, Australia, with a Fight Night scheduled for September 28. This event marks the promotion’s fourth visit to the city and the first since UFC 305 in August 2024, a card where Dricus Du Plessis retained his middleweight title by submitting former champion Israel Adesanya in the fourth round.

Potential Fighters and Title Defenses on the Perth Card

Though no official fight matchups have been released yet, the Fight Night’s non-pay-per-view status suggests that prominent Australian champions such as Alexander Volkanovski and Jack Della Maddalena are unlikely to appear. Volkanovski won the featherweight title in April, while Della Maddalena claimed the welterweight belt in May. Neither fighter has announced their first title defenses, and Della Maddalena is expected to face Islam Makhachev in his welterweight debut soon.

Another possible local competitor could be Robert Whittaker, a middleweight veteran and New Zealand native. Whittaker is slated to headline a Fight Night against Reinier de Ridder in late July. Depending on his recovery and interest in competing close to home, he could be a feature fighter for the Perth event.

Event Timing and Scheduling Considerations

The Perth Fight Night takes place amid a busy schedule for the UFC. It will occur two weeks after the doubleheader featuring Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford and Noche UFC 3, and just one week before UFC 320 in Las Vegas. This timing may influence fighter availability and the overall shape of the Perth card.
