Kayla McBride shines at All-Star event, poised to replace injured Rhyne Howard, captivating fans on the orange carpet.

Caitlin Clark joined several WNBA players on Thursday at the orange carpet event marking the start of the All-Star weekend at the Indiana Convention Center. The event brought together fans and athletes to celebrate the league, with Clark surprising attendees by bringing her two aunts along, who eagerly mingled with some of the sport’s biggest stars.

While the players enjoyed the music and relaxed atmosphere, Clark’s aunts made the most of the occasion by meeting Minnesota Lynx athletes, including Courtney Williams, Natisha Hiedeman, and Kayla McBride, the latter stepping in for the injured Rhyne Howard for this year’s All-Star game.

Clark’s Family Bonds with Minnesota Lynx Stars

Taking pictures on behalf of her aunts, Caitlin Clark helped them connect comfortably with the Lynx players, one aunt even taking the time to learn Natisha Hiedeman’s name. This interaction between Clark’s family and players from the Lynx was notable, especially after the Fever recently claimed the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup title by defeating Minnesota 74-59 earlier this month.

Clark, who was the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, was also selected as one of the All-Star team captains after leading fan voting. Napheesa Collier earned the role of captain for the opposing team after placing second in votes.

Unfortunately, Clark will not participate in the game due to a groin injury suffered during the Fever’s 85-77 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. She has withdrawn from the roster, with Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes named as her replacement.

Indiana Fever Teammates Show Strong Support at Orange Carpet Event

Caitlin Clark was accompanied by several Indiana Fever teammates, including starters Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, the latter having secured her All-Star spot through coaches‘ selection. Other Fever players such as Lexie Hull, Aari McDonald, and Sydney Colson also attended, showcasing their support and enthusiasm for the weekend’s activities.

The event featured introductions of the players to the fans, who showed particular admiration for Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell. Nevertheless, the loudest cheers were reserved for Clark, the hometown sensation who remains the biggest attraction in the WNBA.
