Jonas Valanciunas has decided to remain in the NBA by committing fully to the Denver Nuggets for the upcoming season, turning down a potential move to Greek basketball club Panathinaikos. The Lithuanian center expressed this intention on Monday, emphasizing his focus on fulfilling his contract and competing for a championship with Denver.
The idea of playing for Panathinaikos, closer to home, was very exciting to me, but that will have to wait. I am fully committed to honouring my contract with the Nuggets this season and will give it my all to compete for a championship,

Valanciunas was acquired by the Nuggets earlier in July in a trade, despite still having two years and over $20 million left on his contract. Last season, Valanciunas played for Washington and Sacramento, averaging 10.4 points, 7.7 rebounds, and two assists across 81 games. Denver expects him to serve as a reliable backup center, providing rest for superstar Nikola Jokic, who logged a career-high 36.7 minutes per game last season.
