Pittsburgh Pirates fans will have a new collectible to look forward to as the team announced a limited-edition Bryan Reynolds Pirates bobblehead, set to be distributed on September 5 during the matchup against the Milwaukee Brewers at PNC Park. This release follows a series of popular bobblehead giveaways that garnered significant fan interest throughout the season.

Details of the Bryan Reynolds Commemorative Figure

The bobblehead features Bryan Reynolds wearing a black tank top with the Pirates City Connect jersey displayed prominently on the front. He is depicted with a bat resting on his shoulders, donning a black Pirates hat, white pants, black socks, and black-and-yellow shoes. The base includes the sponsor Valr Energy and “Bryan Reynolds” in yellow lettering, highlighting the player’s recognition and connection with the Pirates community.

Recent Successful Bobblehead Promotions by the Pirates

Earlier in the season, the Pirates released a bobblehead of right-handed starting pitcher Paul Skenes on April 19 against the Cleveland Guardians and honored local rapper Mac Miller with a commemorative figure on July 19. Both promotions were met with enthusiasm, leading to long lines and swift distribution of 20,000 bobbleheads at each event, coinciding with sellout crowds.

For the Skenes bobblehead, the Pirates ensured every fan attending the game received one by implementing an electronic voucher system through ticket scanning; however, this system was not used for the Mac Miller bobblehead distribution. These giveaways contributed to the highest attendance figures of the 2025 season, with 38,041 fans attending the Miller game and 37,713 at the Skenes game.

Bryan Reynolds’ Impact and Career with the Pirates

Reynolds joined the Pittsburgh Pirates in a trade with the San Francisco Giants on January 15, 2018, in exchange for Andrew McCutchen. Now in his seventh season with the team, Reynolds has appeared in 885 games. His career slash line stands at .272/.345/.460, with a .805 OPS, accumulating 912 hits, 178 doubles, 28 triples, 132 home runs, 461 RBIs, and 338 walks against 845 strikeouts, and a 19.0 Wins Above Replacement (WAR).

His breakthrough came in 2021 when Reynolds earned his first All-Star selection, posting a .302 batting average with 24 home runs and 90 RBIs, complemented by a .390 on-base percentage and a .522 slugging percentage for a .912 OPS. He continued to build his value with the Pirates, signing an eight-year, $106.75 million contract on April 25, 2023, the largest in franchise history and the biggest ever for an outfielder drafted out of college at Vanderbilt.

Recent Performance and Contract Details

Reynolds earns $12.25 million in the current season, ranking second on the Pirates payroll behind right-handed starter Mitch Keller, who makes $15.41 million. His contract will pay him $14.25 million in 2026 and $15.25 million annually from 2027 through 2030, with a club option for $20 million in 2031.

In the 2024 season, Reynolds continued to perform strongly, registering a .275/.344/.447 slash line with a .791 OPS across 156 games. He accumulated 171 hits, 29 doubles, 24 home runs, 88 RBIs, and drew 57 walks, earning his second All-Star selection. However, this season has been more challenging, as he has slashed .237/.294/.382 with a .676 OPS, recording 90 hits, 21 doubles, 10 home runs, and 50 RBIs in 380 at-bats.

Speculation Surrounding Reynolds’ Future with the Pirates

Trade rumors involving Reynolds have surfaced recently, including inquiries from the Kansas City Royals. Despite this, the decision to feature Reynolds on a bobblehead suggests the Pirates see him remaining with the team at least for the remainder of the season.

The Role of Bobbleheads in Pirates Culture and Fan Engagement

The Pittsburgh Pirates have leveraged bobblehead giveaways as a strategy to attract fans and celebrate prominent figures connected with the franchise and city. These promotions not only generate excitement for specific games but also serve as collectibles that enhance fan loyalty and engagement. The Bryan Reynolds Pirates bobblehead continues this tradition, highlighting both his individual contributions and his status as a key player for the team.
