Layne Riggs delivered a commanding performance at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 25, sweeping all three stages and clinching his second victory of the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season. Riggs led 160 of the 200 laps, solidifying his front-running status and demonstrating exceptional control throughout the race.

Riggs Controls the Race From Behind the Pack to the Finish

Starting from 11th on the grid, Riggs quickly moved forward, overtaking Corey Heim, who had started on pole, by lap 22. Showing impressive pace, Riggs secured the first stage win by more than three seconds over Ty Majeski. He maintained dominance through the second stage, holding off challenges from Majeski and his teammates while capitalizing on a late restart to claim another stage victory.

The only caution of the day occurred on lap 100 when Josh Reaume collided heavily with the outside wall in turns 3 and 4, momentarily shuffling the field. The race resumed with 15 laps remaining in the second stage, where Riggs defended his lead against teammate Chandler Smith and a charging Stewart Friesen. Despite Friesen’s efforts on fresher tires, Riggs again emerged as the stage winner, completing a clean sweep of the opening two stages.

Late-Race Battle and Victory Sealed at IRP

Following the second stage, Friesen and Grant Enfinger restarted near the front after many leaders pitted, with Friesen initially maintaining the lead. However, Riggs steadily advanced past drivers like Rhodes and Heim to close the gap. With 55 laps remaining, he overtook Friesen to reclaim the lead. Riggs then extended his advantage in the final laps, holding under a second lead for much of the finish before pulling away to secure a decisive win for Front Row Motorsports.

Standings and Upcoming Races as Regular Season Nears End

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series heads to Watkins Glen International on August 8, with two regular-season races remaining. Coverage will start at 5:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1, as drivers look to solidify their positions before the playoffs.

Riggs reflected on the day’s performance, emphasizing tire management and patience. “It was so great,” he said postrace.

“I was just out trying to save my tires for the end. I was just waiting for a late race caution. I was trying to run the bottom and try to run the least amount of distance off my tires.”

Following the celebration, Riggs expressed gratitude for his team’s effort:

“I’m out of breath that was a pretty cool celebration. Thank you to all the guys at home, all the guys in the fab shop and body shop. We did it for you guys. This thing was really fast. Made my job easy today.”
