Ryan Blaney, the trusted NASCAR babysitter, gains Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s endorsement, highlighting deep friendships and childcare skills.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. and his wife Amy recently named Ryan Blaney as the NASCAR driver they would trust to babysit their young daughters. This endorsement came during a podcast appearance, highlighting the strong personal bond between the Earnhardts and Blaney. The 2023 Cup Series champion emphasized how meaningful this trust is for him and his family.

Reasons Behind Choosing Blaney as Babysitter

The question was posed during the “Ask Amy” segment on the Bless Your ‘Hardt podcast, where listeners asked the couple to select an active driver who could babysit Isla, age seven, and Nicole, age four. Dale was quick to respond with Blaney’s name, referencing the trust built when Blaney lived on his property in Mooresville for several years. Amy initially considered Danica Patrick due to her athletic background but agreed that Blaney’s calm demeanor made him the best fit.

Blaney has prior childcare experience, having looked after his two nephews and spending time caring for his close friend Bubba Wallace’s infant son. With his wife Gianna expecting their first child this winter, he is preparing for fatherhood while already honing his babysitting skills.

The Bond Between Blaney and the Earnhardt Family

Blaney’s connection with the Earnhardts goes beyond babysitting. Renting a guest house on Dale Jr.’s property for three years, he reflected on that time as

“the funnest years of my life.”

Their weekly Sunday night ritual involved riding four-wheelers through the woods to Earnhardt’s western-themed bar, Whisky River, where they shared racing stories late into the night.

When informed about the babysitting compliment on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, Blaney responded,

“That means a lot. Hey, I’m a good babysitter. I’ve babysat my nephews: the four and six-year-olds… They’re little hellions. They love causing trouble. And I’ve done a pretty good job. I feel like Uncle Ryan is a hit.”

His approach to childcare involves simplicity and fun, often asking the children, “What do you wanna do?” and finding ways to make their wishes come true.

How NASCAR’s Community Strengthens Off the Track

This babysitting story illustrates the close relationships among NASCAR drivers, who often support each other beyond competition. Earnhardt even joked about exchanging babysitting duties once Blaney’s son is born, highlighting the lighter, human aspects within the sport.

Looking ahead, Blaney’s attention will turn to the upcoming Brickyard 400 race on Sunday, July 27, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Meanwhile, Earnhardt is set to provide race commentary for TNT Sports, alongside Steve Letarte and Adam Alexander, offering fans expert analysis from the booth.
