Tanner Scott Dodgers Elbow Injury: MRI Clears Ligament, But Dodgers Eye Reliever Before Trade Deadline

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Tanner Scott on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday due to inflammation in his left elbow after he experienced discomfort during Monday’s game against the Minnesota Twins. An MRI revealed no ligament damage, but with the July 31 trade deadline approaching, the Dodgers are increasing their search for a reliable bullpen arm.

Tanner Scott’s Elbow Injury and Immediate Assessment

<pScott felt a sudden sting in his throwing arm while attempting to close out a four-out save, prompting his early exit from the game. Initial examinations provided hopeful signs, but the team awaited an MRI reviewed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache to confirm the extent of the injury. The results showed inflammation without any tears or damage to the ligament, offering some relief to Scott and the Dodgers staff.

Scott described his unfamiliar experience with arm discomfort as confusing and unsettling.

“Yeah. I mean, definitely when it was happening, I had no clue what was going on, because I’ve never had an arm issue in my entire career,”

he said.

“I felt it on the 1-1 pitch, and then it kept getting worse, and I had no clue what it is.”

Following the clearer diagnosis on Tuesday, Scott felt more at ease.

“So after [Tuesday], it kind of gave me a clear head,”

he added.

Manager Dave Roberts echoed this steadying perspective, noting the progress from initial concern to cautious optimism.

“Very much so, considering where we were at 36 hours ago to now,”

Roberts commented.

“But I think that’s still being mindful and cautious, which I think putting him on the IL, we did the right thing.”

Roberts emphasized the importance of careful management as Scott begins his return.

“Just still be mindful of when he ramps up again. But yeah, where we’re at, very, very thankful.”

Scott is expected to be off throwing for only two to three days and can be activated as early as August 6. To fill his roster spot, Alexis DĂaz was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Dodgers Accelerate Reliever Search Ahead of Deadline

Scott’s elbow inflammation has added urgency for the Dodgers as they seek reinforcements before MLB’s trade deadline on July 31. The team has been linked to several potential bullpen additions, including Félix Bautista, Ryan Helsley, David Bednar, and Emmanuel Clase, all recognized for their high-leverage capabilities.

Manager Roberts indicated that Scott’s injury has intensified the team’s efforts to secure a dependable reliever to bolster the Dodgers’ bullpen for the final stretch of the season.

With the Dodgers navigating critical roster moves, the reliability of Scott’s recovery and potential acquisitions will shape the team’s pitching depth moving forward.
