Zane Smith Eyes Historic Triple Series Race Run at Naval Base Coronado in 2026
Zane Smith aspires to achieve a historic Triple Series Race victory in San Diego, boosting his racing career.

Zane Smith, who drives the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports car in the NASCAR Cup Series, is eagerly looking ahead to the upcoming racing weekend at Naval Base Coronado in 2026. The Huntington Beach native expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of competing in all three races—the Truck Series, Xfinity Series, and Cup Series—during this historic event.

Smith, now in his second full Cup Series season after moving from Spire Motorsports, shared his thoughts during an interview with veteran Fox journalist Bob Pockrass at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. When asked about racing at the Naval Base Coronado track, he was optimistic about the opportunity.

“If there’s an opportunity for me to run the Truck, Xfinity, and obviously, Cup race…you know, I will do all three,” Smith then said. “I just feel track time would be incredibly important, and this is just gonna be an awesome event and making history.”

“So it would be really cool to get a win in one of those series. Obviously, it’d be really cool to get that on Sunday,” he added.

Current Season Performance and Upcoming Challenges

Despite his excitement for future events, Smith is still seeking his first win this season. He currently ranks 24th in the Cup Series championship standings, holding 388 points. His next race will be the prestigious Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, an event that carries significant weight for drivers looking to improve their season results.

The Brickyard 400 is scheduled for Sunday, with the race broadcast live on TNT Sports starting at 2 p.m. ET, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio providing live updates throughout the event.

Partnership with Aaron’s and Its Role in Smith’s Season

In 2025, Aaron’s teamed up with Zane Smith for the first time as the primary sponsor on the No. 38 car. This partnership covers six key races, beginning with the regular season event at Phoenix Raceway and concluding with the Championship 4, also at Phoenix in November. Smith recently highlighted this collaboration on social media with a post featuring his Aaron’s-inspired gear and the caption, “Lucky dog at Indy.”

Aaron’s, based in Atlanta, has also sponsored Todd Gilliland’s No. 34 Front Row Motorsports car earlier this year. The company is widely recognized across the US and Canada as a leading provider of consumer goods financing, including home appliances, electronics, and furniture.

“I’m really excited to be a part of Aaron’s next chapter in NASCAR.” Smith said of his partnership with Aaron’s. “They’ve been one of the most recognizable brands in the history of the sport, and I can’t wait to have them on the 38 car throughout the 2025 season.”

This partnership will be on full display as Smith races the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway this weekend, marking another step in his NASCAR journey.

Anticipation Builds for a Potential Historic Triple Series Weekend

The plan for the 2026 racing weekend at Naval Base Coronado is generating excitement across NASCAR, with Zane Smith’s intention to compete in all three series underscoring the event’s significance. If successful, Smith would not only gain extensive track time but also have a rare chance to make history by participating in and possibly winning in multiple divisions over the same weekend.

Such an achievement could be a highlight in Smith’s racing career and set a precedent for future multi-series weekends, enhancing his presence as a determined and versatile driver in NASCAR’s competitive landscape.
